Aleksandr Tikhomirov
Aleksandr Andreyevich Tikhomirov (russian: Александр Андреевич Тихомиров, – October 23, 1931) was a Russian zoologist. After graduating in the Saint Petersburg University and the Moscow University, Tikhomirov became a Professor of the latter and the director of the zoological museum attached to it. His major works, containing anti-darwinism, concern the anatomy, embryology and the physiology of silkworm. In 1886 Tikhomirov discovered the artificial parthenogenesis on the silkworm's grain. Nikolai Mikhailovich Tikhomirov (russian: Николай Михайлович Тихомиров; 1857 – 1900) was a Russian engineer, public figure, one of the founders of Novosibirsk. Biography Nikolai Tikhomirov was born 30 June (12 July New Style) 1857 in Kirov, Russia, Vyatka, Vyatka Governorate, Russian Empire (today Kirov, Kirov Oblast, Udmurt Republic). He was educated at the Institute of Transport (today the St. Petersburg State Transport University and became an engineer with the Ministry of Transport. On the West Siberian Railway, under Konstantin Mikhaylovsky he participated in the construction of the bridge across the Ishim River near Petropavl and the Kargat-Krivoshokovo section of line. In August 1894, Tikhomirov and his family moved to Novonikolayevsk Settlement (now Novosibirsk) and participated in the construction of the Novosibirsk Rail Bridge, the first railway bridge over the Ob River. Metropolitan Sergius (secular name Georgiy Alexeyevich Tikhomirov, russian: Георгий Алексеевич Тихомиров; June 16, 1871 – August 10, 1945) was a bishop of the Orthodox Eastern Church. He first served in Russia, but spent most of his episcopate in Japan (1908 - 1945) in the Russian Orthodox Christian mission and in the Japanese Orthodox Church. Early life in Russia He was born on June 16, 1871 as Alexiy in a village of Guzi near Novgorod, Russia, in the family of a rural priest Tikhomirov. He studied well, entered in the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and graduated in 1896. In 1895 Alexiy took the monastic vows with the name Sergius. Viktor Tikhomirov
Victor (or Viktor) Vasilievitch Tikhomirov (Dec. 10 (23), 1912 – Jan. 8, 1985) was an outstanding Soviet engineer and scientist in the fields of radio electronics and automation. He was a corresponding member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, three times a laureate of the Stalin Prize, and was awarded two Orders of Lenin and other orders and medals. He led development of the first full radar system in the USSR. Early Background Victor Tikhomirov was born in Kineshma, a medium-sized city now in Ivanovo Oblast. Upon completing secondary school, he first worked as an electrician in the Donetz Basin (Donbass) region of Eastern Ukraine, and then at the Donbass mines of Metrostroi (the operator of Moscow's subway system). Vasiliy Dmitriyevich Tikhomirov (1876–1956) was a dancer (from 1895) and a choreographer (from 1913) with the Bolshoi Ballet of Moscow, Russia. His most distinguished production was ''The Red Poppy'' (1927), with his wife Yekaterina Geltzer in the main role. After the divorce Yekaterina Geltzer and Vasily Tikhomirov remained onstage partners. He and Geltzer were buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery. Nikolai Ivanovich Tikhomirov (russian: Николай Иванович Тихомиров; birthname - Nikolai Viktorovich Slyotov; November 1859 - 28 April 1930) was a Russian Soviet chemical engineer, inventor, founder of the Gas Dynamics Laboratory, specialist in rocket technology and one of the inventors of the Katyusha, which he was awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor (1991, posthumously). Mikhail Nikolayevich Tikhomirov (russian: Михаи́л Николáевич Тихоми́ров; 31 May 1893 — 2 September 1965) was a leading Soviet specialist in medieval Russian paleography. Tikhomirov was born and spent his whole life in Moscow, where he was in charge of the Archaeographic Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (to which he was elected a corresponding member in 1946 and full member in 1953). He was responsible for the Soviet edition of the Full Collection of Russian Chronicles and edited collections of many other medieval documents, including the ''Russkaya Pravda'' and '' Sobornoye Ulozhenie''. Ioasaf Aleksandrovich Tikhomirov (1872-1908) was a male actor from the Russian Empire. He trained under Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, who offered "rigorous and intelligent" courses in actor training at the school of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. Tikhomirov was one of twelve students that Nemirovich brought with him to join the Moscow Art Theatre when he founded it with Constantin Stanislavski in 1898. He acted with the company until 1904 and also served as the director of the Art Theatre School.
