''Through Art We Are All Equals'' is the debut album by American post-hardcore band Slaves released June 24, 2014 through Artery Recordings. The lead single "The Fire Down Below" was released on April 22, 2014 on YouTube. On May 14, the band released "The Upgrade, Pt. II" as the second single from the album. The third single "Starving for Friends", featuring Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil was released on May 26. The album was produced by Kris Crummett. It's the only album to feature bassist Jason Mays who left the band on May 30 prior to the album's release. Background On March 3, 2014, Jonny Craig announced that he would be signed to Artery Recordings with his band, Slaves. A video was uploaded on the same day of Craig and the band recording the album in Sacramento, California on Artery Recordings' official YouTube channel. Slaves (American Band)
Slaves was an American post-hardcore group formed in Sacramento, California. The band consisted of bassist Colin Vieira, guitarists Weston Richmond and Juan Felipe Sanchez, drummer Zachary Baker, and lead vocalist Jonny Craig. The band released their debut album, '' Through Art We Are All Equals'' on June 24, 2014. Their second studio album, '' Routine Breathing'', was released on August 21, 2015. The band released their third studio album '' Beautiful Death'' on February 16, 2018. All members except Craig would go on to form the Florida-based rock band Rain City Drive, with '' The Voice'' runner-up Matt McAndrew on lead vocals, signing to independent record label Thriller Records. Tyler Carter
Derek Tyler Carter (born December 30, 1991) is an American musician from Habersham County, Georgia. He was the lead vocalist and founding member of the metalcore band Issues (2012–2020). Carter began his music career as a drummer in local Atlanta bands before joining Woe, Is Me, with whom he released the studio album '' NumberHeadspace'' (2016), and '' Beautiful Oblivion'' (2019). Following the departure of co-vocalist Michael Bohn in 2018, Carter became the band's sole frontman until his own exit in 2020. That year, he co-founded the duo Emerald Royce with Attila's Chris Linck. Rise Records is an American record label currently based in Beaverton, Oregon, mainly focusing on alternative rock, heavy metal, and punk rock music artists. Issues (band)
Issues was an American metalcore band based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2012. The band's final lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist AJ Rebollo, bassist and vocalist Skyler Acord, and drummer Josh Manuel. They were known for their combination of metalcore, nu metal, pop and contemporary R&B. Following original member Michael Bohn and Tyler Carter's departure from Woe, Is Me, the duo formed Issues with keyboardist Ben Ferris, bassist Cory Ferris, guitarist AJ Rebollo, and drummer Case Snedecor, subsequently signing to Rise Records. Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. Metalcore typically has aggressive verses and melodic choruses, combined with Breakdown (music), breakdowns – which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining traits are low-tuned, percussive guitar riffs, double bass drumming, and polished production. Pierce the Veil is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 2006. Victor Vincent Fuentes (born February 10, 1983) is an American musician. He is the co-founder, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil, which he formed with his brother Mike Fuentes in 2006. Early life Fuentes was born on February 10, 1983, in San Diego, California, to Vivian K. Fuentes and Victor Gamboa Fuentes, a painter and former jazz musician. He has a younger brother, Mike Fuentes, two half-brothers, and one half-sister.
