Thomás Chacón Yona (born 17 August 2000) is a Uruguayan association football, footballer who plays as a midfielder for Swiss club AC Bellinzona, Bellinzona. Club career A youth academy product of Danubio F.C., Danubio, Chacón made his professional debut on 23 November 2017 in a 2–2 draw against El Tanque Sisley. He scored his first goal on 10 March 2019 in a 1–1 draw against Club Atlético River Plate (Montevideo), River Plate Montevideo. On 7 August 2019, MLS club Minnesota United FC, Minnesota United announced the signing of Chacón as a Designated Player Rule, Young Designated Player. On 5 April 2021, Chacón signed on loan with Uruguayan Primera División side Liverpool F.C. (Montevideo), Liverpool until 31 December 2021, with Liverpool holding an option to make the deal permanent. Designated Player Rule
The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The rule, which was adopted ahead of the 2007 MLS season, enables teams to compete for star players in the international football market. The rule is one of two mechanisms by which MLS teams may exceed their salary cap, the other being allocation money. As of December 2019, there have been 209 Designated Players in league history. Swiss Challenge League
The Challenge League (known as the Dieci Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest tier of the Swiss football league system and lower of two professional leagues in the country. Ten teams play in the Challenge League; the winners of the league are promoted to the Swiss Super League, Super League, while the bottom-placed team is relegated to the Promotion League. The MLS is Back Tournament took place during the 2020 Major League Soccer season to mark the league's return to action after being suspended as a result of the Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sports, COVID-19 pandemic.
