Gerben Thijssen (born 21 June 1998) is a Belgian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Thijssen won the bronze medal at the 2015 UCI Juniors Track World Championships in the points race. He won the silver medal at the 2016–17 UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Apeldoorn in the team pursuit. In 2016, as a junior he won 2 stages in the Nations Cup Trofeo Karlsberg, the Omloop van de Vlaamse Gewesten and a Belgian Cup stage in Nederhasselt. He represented Belgium at the UCI Juniors Road World Championships in Qatar. In 2017, as a U23-rider he won the Grote Prijs Stad Sint-Niklaas and a stage in Olympia's Tour. Frans Thijssen
Frans Thijssen (born 23 January 1952) is a Dutch former footballer. He started his professional career in 1970 with NEC Nijmegen. In 1973, he moved to FC Twente, where the midfielder played for nearly six seasons. Thijssen won fourteen caps for Holland between 1975 and 1981. In 1979, he moved to England to sign for Ipswich Town joining former FC Twente teammate Arnold Mühren. In 1981 he was the first Dutchman to be voted English Footballer of the Year as he helped Ipswich Town win the UEFA Cup, scoring one goal in each of the two legs of the final. He played a big part in their run to the semi finals of the FA Cup, and they also finished second in the league that season. He helped them finish second again the following year, but a year later he departed from Portman Road after four years to sign for Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest, but he was not nearly as successful at the City Ground as he had been in East Anglia, and he had left the club within months. Theodorus Johannes Thijssen (Amsterdam, 16 June 1879 – Amsterdam, 23 December 1943) was a Dutch writer, teacher and socialist politician. He is best known for the book ''Kees de Jongen''. Biography Theo Thijssen, the oldest child out of six, grew up in the Amsterdam suburb of Jordaan where his father had a small shoe-shop. His family was not wealthy, and after his father died when he was eight they moved and his mother started a grocery where he and his younger brother had to help to get some income for the family. After a tough entrance exam with a scholarship he was allowed on the ''Rijkskweekschool voor onderwijzers'', a college to become a teacher, in Haarlem. After his study was completed he became teacher from 1898 until 1921 at several schools in Amsterdam. François Thijssen
François Thijssen or Frans Thijsz (died 13 October 1638?) was a Dutch-French explorer who explored the southern coast of Australia. He was the captain of the ship t Gulden Zeepaerdt'' (''The Golden Seahorse'') when sailing from Cape of Good Hope to Batavia. On this voyage, he ended up too far to the south and on 26 January 1627 he came upon the coast of Australia, near Cape Leeuwin, the south-westernmost tip of the continent. Thijssen continued to sail eastwards, mapping more than of Australia's coast. He called the land t Land van Pieter Nuyts'' (''The Land of Pieter Nuyts''), referring to the highest VOC official aboard his ship. Part of Thijssen's map shows the islands St Francis and St Peter, now known collectively with their respective groups as the Nuyts Archipelago. He also mapped the coastline around Fowlers Bay. Cornelius Didrikson Thijsen Anckarstierna (25 January 1655 – 19 April 1714) was a Swedish admiral of Dutch origin and a member of the Swedish House of Nobility. Early life Cornelius Anckarstierna was born on 25 January 1655 in Stockholm. His father, Didrik Corneliusson Thijsen, was of Dutch origin and was a naval officer in the Swedish navy. Anckarstierna spent his childhood accompanying his father on his journeys. After joining the navy, he quickly rose through the ranks. In 1669, he became a lieutenant, and in 1676 a captain.
