The White Steed
''The White Steed'' is a play in three acts written in 1939 by Paul Vincent Carroll. It won the 1939 New York Drama Critics' Circle award for Best Foreign Play. Setting The setting of the play is the present-day village of Lorcan, County Louth, Ireland. Original cast The show was performed at the Cort Theatre and then moved to the John Golden Theatre. It ran all together for 136 performances. Paul Vincent Carroll
Paul Vincent Carroll (10 July 1899 – 20 October 1968) was a prolific Irish dramatist writing over 60 plays and writer of short stories, movie scenarios and television scripts. Carroll was born in Blackrock, County Louth, Ireland and received his degree in history from University College, Dublin and settled in Glasgow in 1920 as a teacher. Several of his plays were produced by the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and on Broadway. His play SHADOW AND SUBSTANCE won the New York Drama Critic's Award (1938) and THE WHITE STEED won the same award in 1939. He co-founded in 1932 with Grace Ballantine and Molly Urquhart, and was playwright in residence of the Curtain Theatre Company in Glasgow, Scotland. Roland Bottomley
Roland Bottomley (1880-1947) was a British born American stage and film actor from Liverpool, England. Some sources have him born in 1878 and others in 1879.''American and British Theatrical Biography'', p.125 c.1979 by J. P. Wearing .. He came to America circa 1913 and settled in California. He first made movies for the Kalem Company. By the 1920s he acted at Paramount, Fox, Universal and for Thomas H. Ince. Tom Tully
Thomas Kane Tulley (August 21, 1908 – April 27, 1982) was an American actor. He began his career in radio and on the stage before making his film debut in ''Northern Pursuit'' (1943). Subsequently, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Academy Award for his supporting role in ''The Caine Mutiny (1954 film), The Caine Mutiny'' (1954). Liam Redmond
Liam Redmond (27 July 1913 – 28 October 1989) was an Irish character actor known for his stage, film and television roles. Early life Redmond was one of four children born to cabinet-maker Thomas and Eileen Redmond. Educated at the Christian Brothers schools in Dublin, he later attended University College, Dublin and initially read medicine before moving into drama. George Alexander Coulouris (1 October 1903 – 25 April 1989) was an English film and stage actor. He was perhaps best known for his collaborations with Orson Welles, most notably ''Citizen Kane''.
