The Warriors (British Band)
The Warriors, also known as The Electric Warriors, were a British Beat group of the early 1960s. While the band recorded a few singles with Decca Records, it is mostly remembered because many of its members (most notably Jon Anderson) later became successful musicians in the British progressive rock scene of the 1970s. The line-up included Jon Anderson (later Yes singer) on vocals, Jon's brother Tony Anderson (later Los Bravos member) on vocals, Brian Chatton on keyboards (who would later join Phil Collins and Ronnie Caryl to form Flaming Youth and after that join ex-The Nice Lee Jackson in Jackson Heights), Ian Wallace (later King Crimson and Bob Dylan's drummer) on drums, and David Foster (later in Badger Badgers are medium-sized short-legged omnivores in the superfamily Musteloidea. Beat Music
Beat music, British beat, or Merseybeat is a British popular music Music genre, genre that developed around Liverpool in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The genre melded influences from British rock and roll, British and Music of the United States, American rock and roll, rhythm and blues, skiffle, traditional pop, and music hall. ''Time and a Word'' is the second studio album by English rock band Yes, first released in the UK on 24 July 1970 and later in the US on 2 November 1970 by Atlantic Records. It was put together several months after the release of the band's 1969 eponymous debut, during which they continued to tour heavily and recorded ''Time and a Word'' between shows. Yes continued to follow their early musical direction of performing original material and cover versions of songs by pop, jazz, and folk artists. A small orchestra of brass and string session musicians was used on most of the album's songs. Guitarist Peter Banks did not support the idea of adding an orchestra to the album, resulting in increased tensions between him and the rest of the group. "I'm Down" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. It was released on a non-album single as the B-side to "Help!" in July 1965. The song originated in McCartney's attempt to write a song in the style of Little Richard, whose song " Long Tall Sally" the band regularly covered. The Cavern Club
The Cavern Club is a music venue on Mathew Street, Liverpool, England. The Cavern Club opened on 16 January 1957 as a jazz club, later becoming a centre of the rock and roll scene in Liverpool in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The club became closely associated with Merseybeat and regularly played host to the Beatles in their early years.. Tony Kaye (musician)
Anthony John Selvidge (born 11 January 1946), known professionally as Tony Kaye, is an English keyboardist, best known as a founding member of the progressive rock band Yes. Born into a musical family, Kaye was classically trained and intended to become a concert pianist before he developed an interest in jazz and contemporary rock and pop music. He joined several groups throughout the 1960s, including the Federals, Johnny Taylor's Star Combo, Jimmy Winston & His Reflections, and Bittersweet. In 1968, Kaye became a founding member of Yes and played on their first three albums until 1971. He then formed Badger and relocated to Los Angeles in 1974, after which he toured with David Bowie and joined Detective. Badger (band)
Badger were a British rock band from the early 1970s. The band was founded by keyboardist Tony Kaye after he left Yes, along with bassist and vocalist David Foster. Background David Foster had been in the Warriors with Jon Anderson before Anderson co-founded Yes. Foster later worked with the band on their second album ''Time and a Word'' (1970). Kaye had worked on a solo project by Foster that was never released. The pair found drummer Roy Dyke, formerly of Ashton, Gardner and Dyke, and Dyke suggested guitarist and vocalist Brian Parrish formerly of Parrish & Gurvitz which later became Frampton's Camel (after Parrish left P&G) on guitar.
