Donald MacBride
Donald Hugh MacBride (June 23, 1893 – June 21, 1957) was an American character actor on stage, in films, and on television. MacBride launched his career as a chorister at St Thomas Fifth Avenue and then at Garden City Cathedral in New York. As a teenager, he recorded the earliest example of a solo recording by a chorister from the USA, on 15 November 1907, singing Handel's 'Angels Ever Bright and Fair'. He also performed in vaudeville and went on to be an actor in New York. Biography Donald MacBride was born 1893 in Brooklyn, New York. MacBride appeared in nearly 140 films between 1914 and 1955. Ricca Allen (June 9, 1863 – September 13, 1949) was a Canadian-born stage and film actress. She appeared in more than 50 films between 1913 and 1941. Allen was born in Victoria, Colony of Vancouver Island to John Allen of Oakland, California. Allen and her sisters Louise Allen and Ray Allen were popular dancers in the 1880s. For nine years, she performed in a company headed by Nance O'Neil. She later had her own company in vaudeville. Allen performed at Niblo's Garden for more than five years. Maxwell Karger (1879–1922) by Carolyn Lowrey, c.1920 was an important movie producer and motion picture director during the silent film era of the 1910s. Biography Karger's approach to making pictures was similar to contemporary Thomas H. Ince. Both died relatively young, but where Ince is remembered for his streamlined productions and circumstances surrounding his death, Karger is completely forgotten today. Karger was a founder of Rolfe Photoplays in New York but later worked primarily at the Metro Pictures studios and was later a personal assistant to Rudolph Valentino.
