Louis Feuillade (; 19 February 1873 – 25 February 1925) was a French filmmaker of the silent film, silent era. Between 1906 and 1924, he directed over 630 films. He is primarily known for the crime serial film, serials ''Fantômas (1913 serial), Fantômas'', ''Les Vampires'' and ''Judex (1916 film), Judex'' made between 1913 and 1916. Early life and career Feuillade was born in Lunel, Hérault, Lunel, Hérault, to Barthélémy Feuillade, a modest wine merchant, and Marie Avesque. From an early age, he showed a deep interest in literature and created numerous drama and vaudeville projects. His excessively academic poems were occasionally published in local newspapers, and he acquired a reputation for his articles devoted to bullfighting. At twelve, he was sent by his parents to a Catholic seminary in Carcassonne, which has been credited for his gothic stylization in his later career. ''Tih Minh'' is a 1918 French film serial directed by Louis Feuillade. Plot ''Tih Minh'' tells the story of Jacques d'Athys who returns to his home in Nice after an expedition to French Indochina, Indochina. Tih Minh, a young woman from Laos, accompanies him. Athys and his servant, Placide, soon become involved with an international band of jewel thieves-cum-spies that include among its members a mysterious noble person, a hypnotist and an evil doctor who renders their victims amnesiacs. Unknown to Athys, he has returned to France with a book that contains a coded message revealing the location of some treasures and of sensitive government intelligence as well. Abel Gance (; born Abel Eugène Alexandre Péréthon; 25 October 188910 November 1981) was a French film director, producer, writer and actor. ''The Tenth Symphony'' () is a 1918 silent French drama film directed by Abel Gance. Plot Rich orphan Eve Dinant has fallen under the spell of the charming but evil Fred Rice. She becomes his mistress and he induces her to murder his sister. She rapidly understands that she cannot go on living with such a despicable man and decides to leave him. Mohammed Karim (1896–1972) () was an Egyptian actor, film director, writer, and producer, and is considered one of the most prominent figures in Egyptian cinematic history. He is credited as the first Egyptian film actor. Biography Mohammed Karim was born on December 8, 1886, in Abdeen, Cairo. Karim's journey into cinema began in 1917 when he learned that Italy's first film company, the Italian Cinematographic Society (SITCIA), had come to Alexandria to make a film. Eager to be involved, he sent them thirty-six photos but was initially rejected due to his lack of proficiency in Italian and French. Six months later, after learning Italian, he sent eighty-six new photos and was given the chance for a screen test. Quirino Cristiani (2 July 1896 – 2 August 1984) was an Italian-born Argentine animation director and cartoonist, responsible for the world's first two animated feature films as well as the first animated feature film with sound, even though the only copies of these two films were lost in a fire. ''Sin dejar rastros'' (Spanish: "Without a Trace") is a 1918 lost Argentine animated feature film. It was written and directed by Quirino Cristiani. The film used cutout animation. Plot The plot revolved around the recent incident involving the German commander Baron von Luxburg who sank an Argentine ship intending to frame the Entente for the act. Reports from survivors helped everyone to realize what had truly happened. Reception The film was not as successful as Cristiani's previous film ''El Apóstol'' from 1917, since ''Sin dejar rastros'' was confiscated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by order of President Hipólito Yrigoyen.
