The Serpent's Way
''The Serpent's Way'' () is a 1986 Swedish drama film directed by Bo Widerberg. It is based on the novel The Way of a Serpent by Torgny Lindgren. The film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival - 404 link and in competition at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. At the 22nd Guldbagge Awards Stina Ekblad won the award for Guldbagge Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actress. Plot A salesman and his son sexually abuse the generations of women of a poor family as payment for debt. Janni must see his mother, sister, niece and wife all being exploited, and the family grow bigger with the abuser's kids. Bo Gunnar Widerberg (; 8 June 1930 – 1 May 1997) was a Sweden, Swedish film director, screenwriter, writer, film editing, editor and actor. Biography Early life Widerberg was born in Malmö, Malmöhus County, Sweden. Career Bo Widerberg began his career as a writer. In 1952 came his first novel, ''Hösttermin''. In the same year, his short story collection ''Kyssas, published by'' Bonnier, became a bestseller. His most successful book was the novel ''Erotikon'' (1957). The novel's title comes from Mauritz Stiller's silent film classic ''Erotikon'' (1920). Widerberg's last novel is ''Den gröna draken'', which was published in 1959 and is a satire on the advertising industry.
