Pernilla August (; born 13 February 1958), also known as Pernilla Östergren Pernilla Wallgren, and Pernilla Wallgren-Östergren, is a Swedish actress, director and screenwriter. She was a longtime collaborator with director Ingmar Bergman and won the Best Actress Award at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival for her role in his film '' The Best Intentions''. She is best known internationally for portraying Shmi Skywalker in George Lucas's '' Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'' and '' Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones''. The Best Intentions
''The Best Intentions'' () is a 1991 Swedish Television film, television drama film directed by Bille August and written by Ingmar Bergman. It is semi-autobiographical, telling the story of the complex relationship between Bergman's parents, Erik Bergman (Lutheran minister), Erik Bergman and Karin Åkerblom, who are renamed Henrik and Anna in the film but retain their true surnames. The film documents the courtship and the difficult early years of their marriage, until the point when Anna becomes pregnant with their second son, who corresponds to Ingmar himself. Samuel Fröler and Pernilla August played Henrik and Anna, respectively. Ingmar Bergman wrote the screenplay based on scattered notes and conversations with his parents in their later years. At the time, it was one of the most expensive Swedish films ever made. It can be viewed as a continuation of Bergman's 1982 film ''Fanny and Alexander''. The Guldbagge Awards (, ) is an official and annual Sweden, Swedish film awards ceremony honoring achievements in the Swedish film industry. Winners are awarded a statuette depicting a Cetonia aurata, rose chafer, better known by the name Guldbaggen. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. Liv Johanne Ullmann (born 16 December 1938) is a Norwegian actress and filmmaker. The National Academy of Mime and Acting (NAMA) (), was a school in Stockholm for acting and mime. This institution was also known under additional different names in English, including Stockholm University College of Acting and Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts.
