The Best Intentions
''The Best Intentions'' () is a 1991 Swedish Television film, television drama film directed by Bille August and written by Ingmar Bergman. It is semi-autobiographical, telling the story of the complex relationship between Bergman's parents, Erik Bergman (Lutheran minister), Erik Bergman and Karin Åkerblom, who are renamed Henrik and Anna in the film but retain their true surnames. The film documents the courtship and the difficult early years of their marriage, until the point when Anna becomes pregnant with their second son, who corresponds to Ingmar himself. Samuel Fröler and Pernilla August played Henrik and Anna, respectively. Ingmar Bergman wrote the screenplay based on scattered notes and conversations with his parents in their later years. At the time, it was one of the most expensive Swedish films ever made. It can be viewed as a continuation of Bergman's 1982 film ''Fanny and Alexander''. Gunilla Birgitta Nyroos (born 7 October 1945) is a Swedish actress. Life and career She won the award for Best Actress at the 20th Guldbagge Awards for her role in ''A Hill on the Dark Side of the Moon''. Björn Granath
Björn Gösta Tryggve Granath (5 April 1946 – 5 February 2017) was a Swedish actor who appeared in over 100 films and television shows. Life and career Granath was born in Örgryte, Gothenburg, Sweden. He starred in a broad range of roles from comedic to dramatic. He was active as an actor and director at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm from 1987 to 2007. At the time of his death he had been due to play Buckingham in a production of Richard III at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in a revival of a popular production he had appeared in during 2014. Granath was married to Ann-Margreth Fyrgård, and the couple had two children. He died on 5 February 2017, at the age of 70. Nils Börje Ahlstedt (born 21 February 1939) is a Swedish actor who has worked extensively with the world-famous director Ingmar Bergman in films like ''Fanny and Alexander'' (1982), ''The Best Intentions'' (1992), ''Sunday's Children'' (1992) and ''Saraband'' (2003). Dag Erik Bergman (23 October 1914 – 10 December 1984) was a Swedish diplomat. Early life Bergman was the son of Erik Bergman, a parish minister, and his wife , née Åkerblom, and the older brother of film director Ingmar Bergman and novelist Margareta Bergman. According to Karin Lannby, Bergman was employed by the intelligence organization C-byrån and was part of the Swedish Volunteer Corps during the Winter War in Finland and active in the National League of Sweden. Bergman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Uppsala University in 1938 and a Candidate of Law degree from Stockholm University in 1944.
