''The Painters'' is the eighth EP by American experimental pop band Animal Collective, released on February 17, 2017. It is the first extended play released by the band since '' Monkey Been to Burn Town'' (2013). The EP serves as a companion to their 2016 studio album, ''Painting With''. Musical style ''The Painters'' continues in the "synth-splattering" pop aesthetic of its polarizing predecessor ''Painting With''. The first track, "Kinda Bonkers", has been compared to its predecessor's opener " FloriDada". Animal Collective
Animal Collective is an American experimental pop band formed in Baltimore County, Maryland. Its members consist of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Geologist (Brian Weitz), and Deakin (Josh Dibb). The band's work is characterized by an eclectic exploration of styles, including psychedelia, freak folk, noise, and electronica, with the use of elements such as loops, drones, sampling, vocal harmonies, and sound collage. AllMusic's Fred Thomas suggests that the group "defined the face of independent experimental rock during the 2000s and 2010s." Holland–Dozier–Holland
Holland–Dozier–Holland, often abbreviated as H-D-H, was a songwriting and production team consisting of Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. The trio wrote, arranged and produced many songs that helped define the Motown sound in the 1960s. During their tenure at Motown Records from 1962 to 1967, Dozier and Brian Holland were the composers and producers for each song, and Eddie Holland wrote the lyrics and arranged the vocals. "Jimmy Mack" is a pop/soul song that in 1967 became a hit single by Martha and the Vandellas for Motown's Gordy imprint. "FloriDada" is a song by Animal Collective, released as the first single from their 2016 album ''Painting With''. It was released on November 30, 2015 by Domino Records. Avey Tare explained that the song was "sort of inspired by hating on people from Florida. I was driving in L.A. and flipping through the radio dial and came across a morning radio show where they're just talking all the time.
