The OneUps
The OneUps (originally known as One Up Mushrooms) is an independent video game cover band, which primarily covers songs from classic video games of the 1980s and 1990s in funk and jazz styles. History The band was formed in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2000 by Mustin, McLeod and Reyes, then still in college. The group initially got together to perform covers of the ''Super Mario Kart'' soundtrack. The group performed at smaller venues such as dive bars initially. The OneUps were one of three bands to perform at the inaugural MAGFest in 2002. The group continued performing at smaller events throughout the 2000s and released two albums, though these sold poorly. When they were invited to perform live at the Penny Arcade Expo in 2007, they intended it to be their final performance. However, the experience of performing in front of 5,000 people and the sudden uptick in album sales led the band to continue. MAGFest
MAGFest (Music and Gaming Festival, originally the Mid-Atlantic Gaming Festival) is a non-profit organization and video game, art, music, and culture festival. They hold multiple events throughout the year, with their flagship event being an annual festival held in the Washington metropolitan area the National Harbor, Maryland, National Harbor. The events feature concerts by chiptune artists and video game cover bands, educational panels and activities, free-to-play arcade cabinets, a bring your own computer (BYOC) LAN party, community jam spaces, and charity speedruns & auctions. All events are primarily run by a large volunteer base, supported and organized by a small, paid office staff. Attractions MAGFest's arcade hall is open 24 hours a day. Tommy Tallarico (born 1967 or 1968) is an American video game music composer, sound designer, and television producer. Since the 1990s, his company Tommy Tallarico Studios has produced audio for many video games. He co-hosted the television series ''Electric Playground'' and ''Reviews on the Run'' from 1997 until 2006. In 2002, he created Video Games Live (VGL), a concert series featuring orchestral performances of video game music. In 2018, Tallarico acquired the Intellivision brand and formed a new company called Intellivision Entertainment, which began developing a new video game console named the Intellivision Amico. Tallarico frequently appeared in pitch videos to solicit investors for the Amico project.
