''The Old Lady'' () is a 1932 Italian comedy drama film directed by Amleto Palermi and starring Emma Gramatica, Maurizio D'Ancora and Armando Falconi. Synopsis Maria, an elderly but impoverished aristocrat, works as a roasted chestnut vendor in order to maintain a pretend show of wealth for her niece whose education she is supporting. Lydia Simoneschi (4 April 1908 – 5 September 1981) was an Italian actress and voice actress. During her career, she gave her voice to actresses mainly during the Classical Hollywood cinema, Golden Ages. Biography Born in Rome and the daughter of silent film actor and director Carlo Simoneschi, she began her acting career when she was very young in Camillo Pilotto's stage company; in the early 1930s she made her film debut, but her inconspicuous physical appearance did not help her in front of the camera. However, her persuasive, passionate and sophisticated voice paved the way for her to become a voice actress. Umberto Sacripante
Umberto Sacripante (2 October 1904 – 14 January 1975) was an Italian film and stage actor. Life and career Born Umberto Sacripanti in Rome, Sacripante debuted on stage in 1921, and in 1926 he became first actor in the theatrical company Teatro degli Indipendenti directed by Anton Giulio Bragaglia. He made his film debut in 1930, and in a short time he became one of the most active character actors of his time. Thanks to his good knowledge of German language, he was also often cast in German and Austrian productions. He also worked as general organizer for the production company Cines, and also was secretary of the National Syndicate of Film Actors. Personal life Sacripante was married to Assunta Lelli.
