The Moths!
The Moths! were an English indie rock band from London. They made new wave and post-punk pop and had drawn comparisons with the Human League, Wire, the Buzzcocks and early Adam and the Ants. History The band started in August 2006 with James Fox (lead vocals, lyrics), Dave Lightfoot (guitars, music) and Jon Vick (synthesizer, production) creating bedroom demos and placing them on MySpace to great critical acclaim. The band were quickly picked up for development. Their first EP ''Games'' was released as a triple A-side with "Wild Birds" and "Valentine" by indie label Fandango. It was hailed by Artrocker and received critical acclaim from NME, as well as gaining extensive radio support from Zane Lowe (BBC Radio 1) and XFM. It was also named single of the week by Steve Lamacq (BBC) and the band were invited to record live sessions with John Kennedy (XFM) and Marc Riley (BBC 6 Music). BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. 1990s (band)
1990s are an indie rock three-piece band from Glasgow, Scotland. History They were signed to Rough Trade Record Company (home of many notable acts such as The Strokes and The Long Blondes) when they were spotted at only their sixth gig (a first for Rough Trade) and released two albums, ''Cookies'' and ''Kicks''. Lead singer Jackie (aka John) McKeown and bassist, Jamie McMorrow, were the founding members of Scottish indie band The Yummy Fur. The line-up over the years that The Yummy Fur existed changed on numerous occasions. Good Shoes
Good Shoes were a four-piece English indie rock band, hailing from Morden, London. Biography Good Shoes was formed by lead singer Rhys Jones and guitarist Steve Leach who often wrote and played music together as a hobby. Rhys and Steve appeared as a two piece under the Good Shoes name for a friend's charity gig (Tom-Fest) at a venue in Kingston called The Peel in early January 2004. Eventually, they decided to formalise their hobby into a fully-fledged band, bringing in Rhys's brother Tom and then later Joel Cox (who was friends with Jones and Leach from secondary school - Raynes Park High School). The band started looking for gigs in January 2005, their first gig was put on by a friend at Fitzwilliam College Cambridge University on 1 February. Foals, stylised as FOALS, are a British rock band formed in Oxford in 2005. The band's current line-up consists of Greek-born lead vocalist and guitarist Yannis Philippakis, drummer and percussionist Jack Bevan and rhythm guitarist Jimmy Smith. BBC Radio 6 Music is a British digital radio station owned and operated by the BBC, specialising primarily in alternative music. BBC 6 Music was the first national music radio station to be launched by the BBC in 32 years. Stephen Paul Lamacq (born 16 October 1964), sometimes known by his nickname Lammo (given to him by John Peel), is an English disc jockey, currently working with the BBC radio station BBC Radio 6 Music. Early life He attended The Ramsey Academy from 1976, which had been formed the previous year from two grammar schools. He was brought up in the Essex village of Colne Engaine. Alexander Zane Reid Lowe (born 7 August 1973) is a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter. After an early career in music creation, production and DJing, he moved to the UK in 1997. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s.
