Marcella Daly (1901–1966) was an American film actress of the silent era. Daly was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Daly and a graduate of the Whittier School and Hollywood High School. In June 1924, Daly received publicity when casting director Lewis Mason committed suicide and left a note that said, in part, "Everything I have, please give to Marcella Daly." Rayart Pictures Films
Rayart Pictures was one of the early film production and distribution companies operating independent of the major Hollywood studios in the United States during the later silent film era from the mid-to-late 1920s and into the early "talkies" era of early films with sound in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It established its own distribution network, specializing in westerns. It was started by W. Ray Johnston in 1924, after whom the company was named. It was originally created as a low budget release agent, and like the other so-called Poverty Row studios, was based in a small plot off Sunset Strip, by Gower Street. An early Poverty Row studio, it was a forerunner of Monogram Pictures, which was also founded by W. Ray Johnston. Ernest Hilliard
Ernest Hilliard (January 31, 1890 – September 3, 1947) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1921 and 1947. He was born in New York City and died in Santa Monica, California, from a heart attack. In March 1925 Hilliard spent three days in a Cuban jail after he was arrested for kissing a Cuban woman in an automobile during a carnival parade. He jumped onto the running board of one of the parade's cars, in which rode two women and their two male escorts, who were lawyers. A news report said, "The actor waved his arms and carried on as the Ciuban boys do in their wooing of girls, while the mardi gras merrymaking is in progress." After Americans intervened on Hilliard's behalf, President Zayas pardoned him. Trem Carr
Tremlet C. Carr (November 6, 1891– August 18, 1946) was an American film producer, closely associated with the low-budget filmmaking of Poverty Row. In 1931 he co-founded Monogram Pictures, which developed into one of the leading specialist producers of B pictures in Hollywood. In 1935, the company was merged into the newly created Republic Pictures, but a year later, Carr broke away and reestablished Monogram as an independent company. Following his death in 1946, Monogram changed its name to Allied Artists and began producing films made on higher budgets. Arthur Lubin called him a "charming gentleman" who was offered the chance to be head of MGM but turned it down as "he was a man who liked to play golf, who lived way out in the valley, and had horses.
