The Interpreters (band)
The Interpreters were a power pop band formed in Philadelphia in 1996. They were composed of singer and bassist Herschel Gaer, guitarist Patsy (Paul) Palladino and drummer Branko Jakominich. History The band was formed in 1996 and signed with Volcano/Freeworld Entertainment, releasing their first EP, ''In of That Fine, Fine Evening'', in 1997. The recording was produced by Shel Talmy and Eric Erlandson. Later that year, the band released the full-length album ''Back in the U.S.S.A.'' on Freeworld/BMG. Following Freeworld's demise, a revised version of the record that included the newer track "Shout" was released on RCA Records in 1998. The band performed at that year's Reading Festival. Gaer continued, relocating to New York, and performed at the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, despite claiming not to be Republicans. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Freeworld Entertainment was a record label formed in 1997 by Dallas Austin and Kevin Czinger. History Inception (1996-1998) The history of Freeworld begins with Kevin Czinger's purchase of Zoo Entertainment from BMG in 1996 with the support of financial backers Allen & Co. Though Zoo was initially run in conjunction with Czinger's own label Volcano Entertainment, it was eventually absorbed into it. In the fall of 1997, Czinger merged the label with Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records to create Freeworld Entertainment. As a combination of the two producers' respective labels, Freeworld consisted of artists from both previous labels' catalogs. Shel Talmy
Sheldon Talmy (August 11, 1937 – November 13, 2024) was an American record producer, songwriter, and arranger, best known for his work in England in the 1960s with the Who, the Kinks, and many other artists. Talmy arranged and produced hits such as "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks, "My Generation" by the Who, and " Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats. He also played guitar or percussion on some of his productions. Early career Talmy was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Esther (Gutes) and Isaac Talmy, a dentist. Eric Theodore Erlandson (born January 9, 1963) is an American musician, guitarist, and writer, primarily known as a founding member, songwriter and lead guitarist of alternative rock band Hole from 1989 to 2002. He has also had several musical side projects, including Rodney & the Tube Tops, which he formed with Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and RRIICCEE with Vincent Gallo. Reading Festival
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading, Berkshire, Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house.
