''The Hustle Is On'' is the second album released by Core. The album was produced and mixed by Core. Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 were recorded at Sub Sound and engineered by Stacey "Springdale" Phelon (engineer on Monster Magnet's first album '' Spine of God''). The other tracks were recorded at Trax East with Eric Rachell. It was mastered at West Side Music by Al Douches. The album mixes stoner, psychedelic rock, punk and jazz, and contains several instrumental tracks. Core (band)
Core is an American stoner rock band from New Jersey, formed in the late 1990s. Biography Core debuted with their first album, ''Revival'', in 1996 on Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Billy Anderson and supported by tours with Fu Manchu (band), Fu Manchu, Clutch (band), Clutch and Orange 9mm.http://www.musicmight.com/linkto/artist/{AD10AA20-BBC4-41E7-BCA3-32138B8 Despite this publicity, the album suffered due to limited promotion. Stoner Rock
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep (band), Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily Distortion (music), distorted, Groove (music), groove-laden bass guitar, bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelic music, psychedelia. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Monster Magnet
Monster Magnet is an American rock band. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded in 1989 by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums); they have since gone through several lineup changes, leaving Wyndorf as the only constant member. Monster Magnet has released ten studio albums to date, and they are best known for their 1990s hits "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and " Space Lord". ''Spine of God'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Monster Magnet, released in Europe in 1991 and in the United States the following year. The album represents one of the earliest examples of the emerging 1990s sub-genre of stoner rock. Though ''Spine of God'' did not perform well commercially upon its initial release, the album was listed on '' Spin'' magazine's "Ten Best Albums of the Year You Didn't Hear" for 1991.
