Core (band)
Core is an American stoner rock band from New Jersey, formed in the late 1990s. Biography Core debuted with their first album, ''Revival'', in 1996 on Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Billy Anderson and supported by tours with Fu Manchu (band), Fu Manchu, Clutch (band), Clutch and Orange 9mm.http://www.musicmight.com/linkto/artist/{AD10AA20-BBC4-41E7-BCA3-32138B8 Despite this publicity, the album suffered due to limited promotion. The band bounced back in 1999 with their follow up, ''The Hustle Is On'' on MIA Records and Tee Pee Records. It features artwork by Arik Roper. The album was supported by a tour entitled "Riff Rock Railroad", which also featured Atomic Bitchwax and Nebula (band), Nebula. Kyuss
Kyuss ( ) was an American rock band, formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1987. The band disbanded in 1995, and since then, members of Kyuss have gone on to form or play in several notable bands including Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Dwarves, Eagles of Death Metal, Mondo Generator, Hermano, Unida, Slo Burn and Them Crooked Vultures. In November 2010, three former members of the band (minus Homme, who declined to participate) reunited under the adapted moniker " Kyuss Lives!" for a world tour with plans to record a new album at some point. A federal lawsuit subsequently filed by Homme resulted in Oliveri leaving the band in March 2012, and five months later a court ruled that Garcia and Bjork were not allowed to release audio recordings under the Kyuss Lives! moniker. Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 were recorded at Sub Sound and engineered by Stacey "Springdale" Phelon (engineer on Monster Magnet's first album '' Spine of God''). The other tracks were recorded at Trax East with Eric Rachell. It was mastered at West Side Music by Al Douches. Stoner Rock
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep (band), Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily Distortion (music), distorted, Groove (music), groove-laden bass guitar, bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelic music, psychedelia.
