The Hale
The Hale is an area and ward within the London Borough of Barnet. It is situated where the eastern part of Edgware meets the western part of Mill Hill and centres on the small retail centre at the junction of Deans Lane, Hale Lane and Selvage Lane. This centre constitutes Upper Hale, but is better known locally as the 'Green Man' after the pub of the same name that stood at the site from at least the early 18th century. A smaller area that was traditionally known as Lower Hale centres on the junction of Hale Lane, Farm Road and the nearby bridge over Deans Brook; this latter area is generally regarded as being within Edgware. The traditional area known as The Hale extends northwards from the Green Man to the A41 and Apex Corner and the southern end is traditionally marked by the disused Edgware and Highgate railway line just south of West Way and Hale Drive; beyond lies Burnt Oak. Hendon (UK Parliament Constituency)
Hendon is an urban area in the London Borough of Barnet, northwest London northwest of Charing Cross. Hendon was an ancient manor and parish in the county of Middlesex and a former borough, the Municipal Borough of Hendon; it has been part of Greater London since 1965. Hendon falls almost entirely within the NW4 postcode, while the West Hendon part falls in NW9. Colindale to the northwest was once considered part of Hendon but is today separated by the M1 motorway. The district is most famous for the London Aerodrome which later became the RAF Hendon; from 1972 the site of the RAF station was gradually handed over to housing development and to the RAF Museum. The railways reached Hendon in 1868 with Hendon station on the Midland Main Line, followed by the London Underground further east under the name Hendon Central in 1923. Colindale
Colindale is a district in the London Borough of Barnet; its main shopping street on the A5 forming the borough boundary with neighbouring Brent. Colindale is a suburban area, and in recent years has had many new apartments built. It is also the location of the 1960s–1970s Grahame Park housing estate, built on former parts of Hendon Aerodrome. It is situated about northwest of Charing Cross, directly northwest of Hendon, to the south of Edgware and east of Queensbury. History Formerly in the borough and ancient parish of Hendon, the area was essentially the dale between Mill Hill and The Burroughs. Universitybus Limited, trading as Uno, is a bus operator owned and operated by the University of Hertfordshire, serving members of the general public, and also its own students and staff. Mill Hill Broadway Railway Station
Mill Hill Broadway railway station is on the Midland Main Line in England, serving the suburb of Mill Hill in the London Borough of Barnet, north London. It is down the line from and is situated between to the south and to the north. Its three-letter station code is MIL. The station is served by Thameslink-operated trains on the Thameslink route. It is in Transport for London's Travelcard Zone 4. History The station was built by the Midland Railway as simply "Mill Hill" in 1868 on its extension to St. Pancras, being renamed in 1950.
