The Gnu
"The Gnu" (sometimes known as "A Gnu", "I'm a Gnu" or "The Gnu Song") is a 1956 humorous song about a talking gnu by Flanders and Swann. The word ''gnu'' is consistently pronounced in the song with two syllables as "g-noo", with the ''g'' clearly enunciated, and the ''n'' unpalatalised in contrast to the traditional "noo" or "nyoo". The song also plays on silent letters in other words such as "k-now" and "w-ho", and adds initial '' gs to various words beginning with ''n''. Synopsis Michael Flanders introduces the piece with a humorous monologue explaining how he came to write it. He tells the story of a car – "great big flashy thing, with teeth; engine at both ends" – that is the bane of his existence, since it constantly occupies the one spot in the road outside his house where he can comfortably get from wheelchair to car and vice versa. Flanders And Swann
Flanders and Swann were a British comedy duo and musicians. Michael Flanders (1922–1975) was a lyricist, actor, and singer. He collaborated with Donald Swann (1923–1994), a composer and pianist, in writing and performing comedy music, comic songs. They first worked together in a school revue in 1939 and eventually wrote more than 100 comic songs together. Flanders and Swann performed their songs, interspersed with comic monologues, in their long-running two-man revues ''At the Drop of a Hat'' (1956-1959) and ''At the Drop of Another Hat'' (1963-1967), which they toured in Britain and abroad. Both revues were recorded in concert (by George Martin). The duo also made several studio recordings. ''Och Aye the G'nu'' is a 2017 children's album credited to Scottish-born Australian rock singer-songwriter Jimmy Barnes, and Australian children's music group the Wiggles. Background ''Och Aye the G'nu'' was first mentioned by producer Anthony Field in the Wiggles' 25th anniversary feature interview in May 2016. The album was recorded in 2016. After working on the project, Field said; "The songs on ''Och Aye the G'nu'' are absolutely beautiful, they come from Jimmy's heart. There's also a great sense of fun, perfect for the young listener. James Dixon Barnes ( Swan; born 28 April 1956) is an Australian rock singer. His career, both as a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the rock band Cold Chisel, has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time. ''The Great Space Coaster'' is an American live-action/animated children's television show that was broadcast in first-run syndication from 1981 to 1986.
