The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter
''The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter'' is a 1984 Hong Kong film by Shaw Brothers, directed by Lau Kar-leung and starring Gordon Liu, Kara Hui and Alexander Fu (in his final film appearance). It was released as ''The Invincible Pole Fighters'' outside of Hong Kong and ''Invincible Pole Fighter'' in North America. Alexander Fu died in a car accident before the filming of ''The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter'' was finished. The script was partly re-written after his death and Fu's character does not appear in the final showdown as originally written in the script. The film is based on the ''Generals of the Yang Family'' (Yeung family in Cantonese) legends. Lau Kar-leung
Lau Kar-leung (; born 28 July 1934 – 25 June 2013) was a Hongkongers, Hong Kong Martial art, martial artist, filmmaker, Stage combat, fight choreographer and actor. He is best known for the films he made in the 1970s and 1980s for the Shaw Brothers Studio, notably those starring Gordon Liu. He is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of Martial arts film, martial arts cinema. Mount Wutai
Mount Wutai, also known by its Chinese name Wutaishan and as is a sacred Buddhist site at the headwaters of the Qingshui in Shanxi Province, China. Hsiao Ho, (Hsiao Hou) (; Cantonese: Siu Hau, born 2 March 1958 in Meixian District, Guangdong, China) is a Hong Kong martial arts film actor, stunt performer and action choreographer. A Hakka, he has acted in many films directed by Lau Kar-leung, including '' Mad Monkey Kung Fu'' and Legendary Weapons of China. Yang Erlang
Erlang Shen, or simply Erlang, is a god in Chinese folk religion and Daoism, associated with water (flood control), justice, warriorhood, hunting, and demon subdual. He is commonly depicted as a young man with a third, truth-seeing eye in the middle of his forehead, wielding a three-pronged spear, and being accompanied by his loyal hunting dog, Xiaotian Quan. Lau Kar-wing (born 1944) is a martial artist, Hong Kong film director, action choreographer and actor. Background Born in the Xinhui District of Jiangmen in Guangdong, China, Lau Kar-wing was the fourth child of Lau Cham (), a martial arts master who studied under Lam Sai-wing, pupil of the legendary Chinese folk hero, Wong Fei-hung. Lau began learning kung fu in his early teens, learning in secret at his father's school. When his older brother, Lau Kar-leung, discovered this, he began teaching Kar-wing himself.
