''The Decade'' is the second EP by American post-hardcore band Alesana. It was released in April 2014, and the release used a different stylization of lyrics compared to their past releases. This album was made to celebrate the 10 years as a band. This is Alesana's first and only release with Artery Recordings. Alesana
Alesana ( ) is an American post-hardcore band from Raleigh, North Carolina. The group was founded by Shawn Milke, Dennis Lee and Patrick Thompson during the fall of 2004, and is currently signed to Revival Recordings and Artery Recordings. Alesana has collectively released three EPs and five full-length studio albums. The band gained a wide audience after their debut, ''On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax'' was released, featuring a musical style shifting between light and heavy sounds along with a wide influence ranging from pop, punk, metal and even classic rock bands such as the Beatles. Vocalists Lee and Milke bring together their love of Metal and Pop Punk seamlessly. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. It was initially inspired by post-punk and noise rock. Like post-punk, the term has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. ''A Place Where the Sun Is Silent'' is the fourth studio album by Alesana. It was released through Epitaph Records on October 18, 2011. The album was produced by Kris Crummett, who also worked on '' The Emptiness''. Being the second concept album released by Alesana, ''A Place Where the Sun Is Silent'' was inspired by the epic poem '' The Inferno'' by Dante Alighieri. On August 24, 2011 ''Alternative Press'' premiered the first song off the album, "A Gilded Masquerade" and on September 21, 2011 the magazine premiered the second song off the album, "A Forbidden Dance" before later showcasing the entire album off the website. On October 4, 2011, the band released a music video for "Circle VII: Sins of The Lion", with live performance clips. On December 6, 2011 Alesana released the music video for "Lullaby of the Crucified". It is their third concept album and the final chapter of the Annabel trilogy, released on April 21, 2015. The first one, '' The Emptiness'' (Fearless Records) was released in 2010, and the second one, ''A Place Where the Sun Is Silent'' (Epitaph Records) was released in 2011. Background This is the third and final release of the three studio albums and accompanying short stories that make up Alesana's iconic Annabel Trilogy, a three part story centered around the fictional character Annabel and how she interacts with various storylines and motifs found in famous works of literature.
