The Dangerfields
The Dangerfields are a punk rock/ heavy metal band based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 2000. Fronted by drummer and lead vocalist Andrew Griswold, the band has gone through many line-up changes. They have released one album and four EPs, and played more than 800 live gigs, including playing their 666th gig on 06/06/06. They have toured with many notable bands, including The Dwarves, Zeke, The Damned, Misfits, The Exploited, Flogging Molly and Stiff Little Fingers. In May 2004, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden invited them to perform with him at his BBC 6 Music Road Show at Belfast's Mandela Hall alongside Therapy?. Bands to have played their debut gigs opening for The Dangerfields include And So I Watch You from Afar and Black Spiders. Fellow Irishmen and former touring partners Gama Bomb recorded a cover version of the Dangerfields' song ''Maniac'' on their ''Zombi Brew'' EP. Flogging Molly
Flogging Molly is an Irish-American seven-piece Celtic punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1997, led by Irish vocalist Dave King, formerly of the hard rock band Fastway. They are signed to their own record label, Borstal Beat Records. History Early years Prior to forming Flogging Molly, Dublin-born Dave King was the lead singer for the heavy metal band Fastway featuring guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke of Motörhead in the early to mid-1980s. He later fronted a hard rock band called Katmandu (1991), featuring Mandy Meyer of Krokus and Asia on guitars. Afterward, King retained a record deal with Epic Records and began to work on a solo album, but began to reconsider his record deal when the label opposed his idea of bringing in traditional Irish instruments. TNSrecords (also known as TNS and That's Not Skanking) is a punk record label based in Manchester, UK. TNSrecords aims to support and spread the word about exciting bands, who could be considered punk in either sound or ethos. The emphasis is very much based around community spirit, the DIY ethos and working collectively with like-minded people. The TNS family continues to expand. They started out as a punk zine and then a gig night way back in 2003 in Manchester. TNS evolved into an independent label in 2008. Cover Version
In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original. History The term "cover" goes back decades when cover version originally described a rival version of a tune recorded to compete with the recently released (original) version. Gama Bomb
Gama Bomb are a thrash metal band based in Northern Ireland. The band's 2009 album '' Tales from the Grave in Space'' was one of the first albums released as a free download by a band signed to a record label. History Beginnings (2002–2005) School friends Joe McGuigan and Philly Byrne formed Gama Bomb with guitarist Luke Graham in Newry in 2002. The band gained attention with their demo " The Survival Option" the same year. In 2003, they toured and released the single " The Fatal Mission". During this period Byrne often appeared on stage as a chef, priest, pirate or scientist. Gama Bomb's first tour dates outside Ireland were in 2004, supporting the punk band The Dangerfields on a tour of Scotland. Black Spiders
Black Spiders are an English rock band based in Sheffield, England. Their third studio album entered the UK Independent Albums Chart in early 2021, reaching no. 7. History The band formed in early 2008, originally playing a few shows under the name 'The Black Spiders'. They released a three-track single entitled ''St. Peter'' in December 2008, to coincide with a small run of dates with Airbourne across mainland Europe in December of the same year - their first ever tour. A four-track EP, ''Cinco Hombres, Diez Cojones'' followed in June 2009, shortly after the band's first appearance at the Download festival at Castle Donington. This was to be the first release on the band’s own record label, Dark Riders. Therapy?
Therapy? are a Northern Irish rock band from Larne, formed in 1989 by guitarist-vocalist Andy Cairns and drummer-vocalist Fyfe Ewing. Therapy? recorded their first demo with Cairns filling in on bass guitar. To complete the lineup, the band recruited Larne bassist Michael McKeegan. The band signed with major label A&M Records in 1992, for which they released four albums, most notably '' Troublegum'' in 1994 and '' Infernal Love'' in 1995. Ewing's departure in early 1996 preceded the arrivals of his replacement Graham Hopkins, as well as Martin McCarrick on guitar and cello. Neil Cooper replaced Hopkins in 2002. McCarrick departed in 2004, and the band have remained a three-piece ever since. Therapy? are currently signed to UK independent label Marshall Records. Queen's University Belfast Students' Union
Queen's Students' Union (QSU) is the official representative body for students at Queen's University Belfast. Membership of the union is automatic and currently totals 24,560, making it one of the largest unions on the island of Ireland and in the United Kingdom. The Students' Union derives its existence and authority from the University's Statutes, and so is not entirely independent of it. Therefore, it must have amendments to its constitution approved by the University Senate.
