Tesfaye Yigezu Kelka is an Ethiopian politician who is serving as the State Minister of Ministry of Irrigation and lowlands since August 9 2024. Tesfaye is from the Wolaitans and he was chief administrator of Wolayita Zone from 2011 to 2013. Career Tesfaye has served his country in different levels. He served as chief Adiminstrator of Wolayita Zone for two years. He also headed the former SNNPR's Urban development and construction bureau. Tesfaye Yigezu was vice president of SNNPR until its dissolution in August 2023. Wolayita Zone
Wolayita or Wolaita is an administrative Zones of Ethiopia, zone in Ethiopia. Wolayita is bordered on the south by Gamo Zone, on the west by the Omo River (Ethiopia), Omo River which separates it from Dawro Zone, Dawro, on the northwest by Kembata Zone and Tembaro Special Woreda, on the north by Hadiya Zone, Hadiya, on the northeast by the Oromia Region, on the east by the Bilate River which separates it from Sidama Region, and on the south east by the Lake Abaya which separates it from Oromia Region. SNNPR
The Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (often abbreviated as SNNPR; ) was a regional state in southwestern Ethiopia. It was formed from the merger of five ''kililoch'', called Regions 7 to 11, following the regional council elections on 21 June 1992. Its government was based in Hawassa. The SNNPR bordered Kenya to the south (including a small part of Lake Turkana), the Ilemi Triangle (a region claimed by Kenya and South Sudan) to the southwest, Oromia region to the north and east. The capital city of the region was Hawassa. The region included major cities and towns like Wolaita Sodo, Arba Minch, Jinka, Dila, Boditi, Areka, Butajira, Welkite, Bonga, Hosaena and Worabe. Abiy Ahmed Ali (; ; born 15 August 1976) is an Ethiopian politician who is the current Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 2018 and the leader of the Prosperity Party since 2019. He rose through the ranks of government via the Information Network Security Agency (INSA), which was established in 2006. Prosperity Party
The Prosperity Party (; ) is a political party in Ethiopia that was established on 1 December 2019 as a successor to the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Welayta People
The Welayta (Ge'ez script, Ge'ez: ወላይታ ''Wolayta'') are an ethnic group located in Southern Ethiopia. According to the most recent estimate (2017), the people of Wolayta numbered 5.83 million in Wolayita Zone, Welayta Zone. The language of the Wolayta people, similarly called Wolaytta language, Wolayttatuwaa, belongs to the Omotic languages, Omotic branch of the Afroasiatic languages, Afro-Asiatic language family. Despite their small population, Wolayta people have widely influenced national music, dance, and cuisine in Ethiopia.
