Geʽez
Geez ( or ; , and sometimes referred to in scholarly literature as Classical Ethiopic) is an ancient South Semitic language. The language originates from what is now Ethiopia and Eritrea. Today, Geez is used as the main liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the Ethiopian Catholic Church, the Eritrean Catholic Church, and the Beta Israel Jewish community. Hawulti Obelisk is an ancient pre-Aksumite obelisk located in Matara, Eritrea. The monument dates to the early Aksumite period and bears an example of the ancient Geez script. In one study, Tigre was found to have a 71% lexical similarity to Geʽez, while Tigrinya had a 68% lexical similarity to Geʽez, followed by Amharic at 62%. Eyob Ghebrehiwet Faniel (born 26 November 1992) is an Italian long-distance runner who won a silver medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. He is a former national record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:07:19, set on 23 February 2020, at the 2020 Seville Marathon. He finished 20th at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the Marathon. Biography Faniel came to Italy in 2004, he was naturalized in 2015 at 23. In 2017, he won the Venice Marathon when its top runners were mistakenly diverted from the main course by the marathon's staff. In 2019, he competed in the men's marathon at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He finished in 15th place. Eyob Mekonnen
Eyob Mekonnen Yalem (; 12 October 1975 – 18 August 2013) was an Ethiopia, Ethiopian reggae singer widely considered as progenitor of reggae music in Ethiopia. His songs were well known for their themes of "love, understanding, and respect". Early life Eyob was born in Jijiga in 1975, during the start of the Ethiopian Civil War. His father, Mekonnen Yalem, was an officer in the Ethiopian Army during the Ogaden War, which was credited with inspiring him to impart peaceful messages in songs such as "Nekchalehu" and "Negen Layew". He moved to Addis Ababa, when he was young, and attended school whilst maintaining an interest in music. Musical career He joined a five-person band called the Zion Band, which was described as having a "reggae beat with a distinctive Ethiopian cast". Eyob Zambataro (born 18 August 1998) is an Italian footballer of Ethiopian origin who plays as a defender for club Torres. Club career Zambataro made his Serie C debut for Padova on 25 November 2017 in a game against AlbinoLeffe. On 22 December 2019, he joined Serie C club Ravenna on loan until the end of the 2019–20 season. On 25 August 2020 he moved to Monopoli. On 10 August 2021 he was loaned to Serie C club Lecco.
