Tempovision
''Tempovision'' is the second studio album by French DJ and producer Étienne de Crécy, released on 23 October 2000 through Disques Solid and V2 Records. It includes the singles " Am I Wrong", "Scratched" and "Tempovision", which had 3D computer-animated videos made for them by de Crécy's brother, Geoffroy de Crécy. "Am I Wrong" and "Scratched" charted at numbers 44 and 80 on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. Critical reception Dean Carlson of AllMusic wrote that "Squiggling past looping divas, afternoon glares, and funkadelic body bops, De Crecy manages to manufacture a trail of songs that reach for that Anglo-French brass ring with nothing but admirable gravitas". He found "Out of My Hands" to have "bouncing squelches in the Zombie Nation-vein" and "Relax" to have "classically skewed big beat stomps", and concluded that the album is "probably a response to seeing De Crecy's own Air/Daft Punk disciples get the coiffured crossover treatment", hence its "pop diva product ... Étienne De Crécy
Étienne Bernard Marie de Crécy (, born 25 February 1969, Lyon, France), also known as Superdiscount, EDC, Minos Pour Main Basse and Mooloodjee, is a French DJ and producer who composes electronic music, primarily house. Biography Crécy was born in Lyon, but moved to Versailles from Marseille in the mid-1980s, attending the same Jules Ferry college as Air and Alex Gopher, with whom he later created the Solid label. He then worked in Paris as a sound engineer at studio +XXX ("plus thirty") where he met Philippe Zdar of Cassius, with whom he worked as Motorbass for the album '' Pansoul'', a preview of what would be his first solo album, ''Super Discount'', released in 1996, with Air, Alex Gopher and other French artists on Solid. "Am I Wrong" is a 2000 house song by Étienne de Crécy. The track is mainly instrumental except for sampling the phrase "am I wrong" from Millie Jackson's voice singing "Am I wrong to hunger...", from the song "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right". The song was lead single from his album ''Tempovision'', and its 3D animated video received wide airplay in Europe. "Am I Wrong" charted on European dance and house charts, and peaked at #44 in the UK Singles Chart in January 2001. The song is best remembered for its prize-winning video clip. Belita Woods
Belita Karen Woods (October 23, 1948 – May 14, 2012) was a lead singer of the late 1970s R&B group Brainstorm. She also performed with Parliament-Funkadelic for two decades, beginning in 1992. Brainstorm had a disco hit in 1977 called "Lovin' Is Really My Game". Their follow-up album, 1978's ''Journey to the Light'', featured a more soul-funk sound, anchored by the album tracks "We're On Our Way Home" and "If You Ever Need To Cry". Prior to joining Brainstorm, Woods released a single "Magic Corner"/"Grounded" on Detroit's Moira label in 1967. She recorded briefly with the psychedelic soul group The Undisputed Truth in 1990, when original members Joe Harris and Brenda Joyce Evans reformed the group for Ian Levine and his Motown revival label Motorcity Records. ''Super Discount 2'' is the third solo album by French DJ and producer Étienne de Crécy. It was released in 2004 through Disques Solid. The album is a sequel to de Crécy's influential 1996 album ''Super Discount''. Each track title is the name of a peer to peer file sharing protocol, some of which are no longer operating. Production credits are also given to other major French house producers. On "Poisoned" de Crécy is joined by Philippe Zdar AKA Cassius. On "Fast Track" Alex Gopher and Julien Delfaud are credited. Chill-out (shortened as chill; also typeset as chillout or chill out) is a loosely defined form of popular music characterized by slow tempos and relaxed moods. The definition of "chill-out music" has evolved throughout the decades, and generally refers to anything that might be identified as a modern type of easy listening. The term "chill-out music" – originally conflated with " ambient house" – came from an area called "The White Room" at the Heaven nightclub in London in 1989. There, DJs played ambient mixes from sources such as Brian Eno and Pink Floyd to allow dancers a place to "chill out" from the faster-paced music of the main dance floor. Ambient house became widely popular over the next decade before it declined due to market saturation.
