Team Unique
Team Unique is a senior-level synchronized skating team from Helsinki, Finland, representing the figure skating club Helsingfors Skridskoklubb (HSK). Established in 1993 and competing at the senior level since 1996, Team Unique are the 2013 world champions, 2009 world silver medalists and the 2013 and 2016 Finnish champions. Currently, they are ranked seventh in the world by the International Skating Union. The team's home club, HSK, is also the home club to the junior team Team Mystique. History Team Unique were established in 1993 and have competed at the senior level since 1996. Until the 2008–09 season, they stood out from the other Finnish top senior teams by having a few male skaters. 2012 Finlandia Trophy
The 2012 Finlandia Trophy was an international figure skating competition in the 2012–13 season. The 17th edition of the annual event was held on October 5–7, 2012 at the Barona Arena in Espoo. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, ice dancing, and synchronized skating on the senior level. Competitors The initial entries were: Overview Spain's Javier Fernández won the men's short program ahead of Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu and the United States' Richard Dornbush. Hanyu placed first in the free program and won the title while Dornbush moved up to take the silver and Fernandez slipped to third. Helsinki Rockettes are a senior-level synchronized skating team from Helsinki, Finland, representing the figure skating club Helsingin Taitoluisteluklubi. Finnish Synchronized Skating Championships
The Finnish Synchronized Skating Championships is an annual synchronized skating competition, sanctioned by the Finnish Figure Skating Association, held to determine the national champions of Finland. It was first held in 1991. The teams compete at novice, junior and senior levels. At the senior level, the teams qualifying for the World Championships (WSSC) have been selected based on their performance at two qualifiers held before the championships and the national championships. For example, in the 2012–13 season, the teams were selected as follows: the Finnish Champion qualified automatically as Team Finland 1 for the WSSC. Synchronized Skating
Synchronized skating is an ice skating sport where between 8 to 16 skaters perform together as a team. They move as a flowing unit at high speed over the ice, while performing elements and footwork. The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships (WSSC) are the world championships for the sport of synchronized skating.
