Tapin Regency
Tapin Regency is one of regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan; the capital is the town of Rantau. The regency's motto is "Ruhui Rahayu", and it is also shared by another Indonesian province East Kalimantan. It covers an area of 2,174.95 km2 and had a population of 167,877 at the 2010 Census and 189,475 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 191,801. A regency ( id, kabupaten), sometimes incorrectly referred to as a district, is an administrative division of Indonesia, directly under a province and on the same level with city (''kota''). Regencies is divided into districts (''Kecamatan'', ''Distrik'' in Papua region, or ''Kapanewon'' in the Special Region of Yogyakarta). The English name "regency" comes from the Dutch colonial period, when regencies were ruled by ''bupati'' (or regents) and were known as ''regentschap'' in Dutch (''kabupaten'' in Javanese and subsequently Indonesian). Rantau (Chinese: 晏斗) is a small town and a mukim in Seremban District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Location Rantau is 16 km south of downtown Seremban, 20 km northeast of Port Dickson and 49 km southeast of Kajang, Selangor. It is surrounded by several hamlets including Kuala Sawah, Siliau, Pedas and Ayer Kuning, and is the main town in the region with facilities like banks, mini market, quick-service restaurants and a post office.
