Tanunurwa Makoni (born 28 November 1999) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his first-class debut on 18 December 2019, for Rangers in the 2019β20 Logan Cup. Prior to his first-class debut, he was named in Zimbabwe's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his List A debut on 5 February 2020, for Rangers in the 2019β20 Pro50 Championship. Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. 2019β20 Logan Cup
The 2019β20 Logan Cup was the 26th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe. The tournament started on 12 December 2019, and was scheduled to finish on 16 February 2020. It featured five franchise teams, including a new team, the Rangers. Mountaineers were the defending champions. In July 2019, Zimbabwe Cricket was suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to government interference, with all their international and domestic fixtures put on hold. The suspension was lifted by the ICC in October 2019, meaning their domestic fixtures could go ahead. 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament that was held in New Zealand from 13 January to 3 February 2018. It was the twelfth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in New Zealand (after the 2002 and 2010 events). New Zealand was the first country to host the event three times. The opening ceremony took place on 7 January 2018. The West Indies were the defending champions. The 2019β20 Pro50 Championship was the eighteenth edition of the Pro50 Championship, a List A cricket tournament that was played in Zimbabwe. It started on 4 February 2020, with five teams taking part. Mashonaland Eagles were the defending champions. On 18 March 2020, Zimbabwe Cricket suspended all forms of cricket in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Matabeleland Tuskers
The Matabeleland Tuskers is one of five Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in the Bulawayo Metropolitan and Matabeleland North area. They play their home matches at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. They were formed in 2009, when the domestic game in Zimbabwean cricket was restructured. History In their first season, they suffered disappointing results, placing fourth in the Logan Cup, and failing to qualify for the final of either the one-day or Twenty20 competitions. 2020β21 Logan Cup
The 2020β21 Logan Cup was the 27th edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe, which started on 9 December 2020. After originally scheduled to start on 3 December 2020, the tournament was moved back a week to allow time to setup a bio-secure bubble. Five teams took part in the competition, including the Southern Rocks, who last played in the 2013β14 tournament. There was no defending champion, after the previous tournament was voided due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Four matches were played during December 2020. However, on 3 January 2021, Zimbabwe Cricket halted all cricket in the country following a rise in COVID-19 cases.
