Tanri Abeng
Tanri Abeng (7 March 1942 – 23 June 2024) was an Indonesian politician. A member of Golkar, he served as State Minister of Utilization of State Owned Enterprises from 1998 to 1999. Selayar Islands Regency
The Selayar Islands Regency ( , , ) is a regency of Indonesia in South Sulawesi province that covers the Selayar Islands, which lie southeast of the southern peninsula of Sulawesi. The archipelago consists of the group's main island (Selayar Island), which is surrounded by 41 smaller islands around its coast; further to the southeast lies a widespread group of islands, including the smaller but still substantial islands of Pasimassunggu, Pasimarannu and Pasilambena in the far south, and the huge atoll of Takabonerate (itself containing 28 named islands). The Party of Functional Groups (), often known by its abbreviation Golkar, is a centre to centre-right big tent secular nationalist political party in Indonesia. Laksamana Sukardi
Laksamana Sukardi (born 1 October 1956) is an Indonesian politician, reformist and banker who served as Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) under the presidencies of Abdurrahman Wahid and Megawati Sukarnoputri. Sukardi was born in Jakarta into a family of the ''menak'' or Sundanese aristocracy. His father, Gandhi Sukardi (1929–2011), was a prominent journalist at the Antara state news agency. His grandfather, Raden Didi Sukardi (1898–1971), was also a journalist, plantation owner and government minister of the federal state of Pasundan. Laksamana Sukardi graduated as a civil engineer from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1979, but decided to pursue a career as an economist and banker. He eventually became part of the senior management of Bank Lippo, and was honoured as Banker of the Year from SWA Magazine in 1993. Japanese Occupation Of The Dutch East Indies
The Empire of Japan occupied the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) during World War II from March 1942 until after the end of the war in September 1945. In May 1940, Germany German invasion of the Netherlands, occupied the Netherlands, and martial law was declared in the Dutch East Indies. Following the failure of negotiations between the Dutch authorities and the Japanese, Japanese assets in the archipelago were frozen. The Dutch declared war on Japan following the 7 December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese invasion of the Dutch East Indies began on 10 January 1942, and the Imperial Japanese Army overran the entire colony in less than three months. The Dutch surrendered on 8 March.
