Tangaroa (album)
''Tangaroa'' is the second studio album by New Zealand metal band Alien Weaponry, released on 17 September 2021 by Napalm Records. The album is the last to feature bassist Ethan Trembath and the first with Trembath's replacement, Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds. As with their debut, the album features tracks sung both in English and in Māori and incorporates elements of native music, including the usage of taonga pūoro such as the pūtātara. Following the album's release, the band is expected to support Gojira on their American tour, alongside fellow support act Knocked Loose. Lyrical themes The first single to be released was "Ahi Kā", which talks about how the Auckland City Council removed Ngāti Whātua people from their homes in Ōkahu Bay and then proceeded to burn the houses down in order to beautify the city in preparation for a visit by Queen Elizabeth II in the early 1950s. Alien Weaponry
Alien Weaponry is a New Zealand thrash metal band from Waipu, formed in Auckland in 2010. The band consists of drummer Henry de Jong, guitarist Lewis de Jong and, since August 2020, bass player Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds. All three members have Māori ancestry and a number of their songs are written and performed in the Māori language. History Alien Weaponry was formed in Auckland in 2010 by two brothers, drummer Henry Te Reiwhati de Jong and guitarist/singer Lewis Raharuhi de Jong, who were only 10 and 8 years old respectively. Their mother and their paternal grandfather are of Dutch descent, and their father and paternal grandmother are Māori. Their tribal connections are with Ngāti Pikiao and Ngāti Raukawa. Knocked Loose
Knocked Loose is an American metalcore band from Oldham County, Kentucky, formed in 2013 and currently signed to Pure Noise Records. The band released its first studio album, '' Laugh Tracks'', in September 2016 through Pure Noise Records. History Knocked Loose's career in its current form began in 2013, but Garris has stated that he started playing with several of the band's current members in 2011 or 2012. Their first studio material was an EP titled ''Pop Culture'', released in 2014 on Little Heart Records. In 2015, Knocked Loose released a split with Damaged Goods on No Luck Records (and digitally via Little Heart). In the Spring of 2016, Knocked Loose supported Counterparts on their headlining tour. Marine plastic pollution (or plastic pollution in the ocean) is a type of marine pollution by plastics, ranging in size from large original material such as bottles and bags, down to microplastics formed from the fragmentation of plastic material. Marine debris is mainly discarded human rubbish which floats on, or is suspended in the ocean. Eighty percent of marine debris is plastic. Microplastics and nanoplastics result from the breakdown or photodegradation of plastic waste in surface waters, rivers or oceans. Recently, scientists have uncovered nanoplastics in heavy snow, more specifically about 3000 tons that cover Switzerland yearly.
