Tana (film)
''Tana'' is a 1958 Albanian feature film directed by Kristaq Dhamo and written by Fatmir Gjata and Nasho Jorgaqi based on Gjata's novel of the same name. ''Tana'' was the first feature film entirely produced by Albania, with prior films relying on the Soviet Union. Plot Gjata had written a novel with the same title earlier. The events evolve in the 1950s. The main character, Tana, is a smart, outgoing and progressive young woman. She is in love with Stefan (Naim Frashëri) and they both live in an unnamed mountain village in Albania. Tana has to face the old mentality of her old grandfather, and she also has to fight the jealousy of Lefter (Kadri Roshi). It is a love game, while socialist progress is highlighted, as is often the case in socialist realism. Kristaq Dhamo
Kristaq Dhamo (20 April 1933 – 14 August 2022) was an Albanian film director. In 1979 he was awarded the title of " Merited Artist" and in 1987 he was honored with the title of People's Artist of Albania medal. At the 11th Albanian Film Festival in 2000, he was honored with the Career Award. One of his famous quotes was: “A society with a film industry is a society that can develop.” (“Një shoqëri me industri filmi, është një shoqëri që mund të zhvillohet”.) He graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinematography in Budapest, Hungary. After his studies, he began working at the Film Studio-"Shqipëria e Re". His first directed movie at the age of 25 was Tana, which is known as the 1st Albanian feature film, produced by Shqipëria Film Studios (later known as Kinostudio "Shqipëria e Re") and premiered on 17 August 17 1958. Vani Trako
Vani ( ka, ვანი ) is a town in Imereti region of a western Georgia, at the Sulori river (a tributary of the Rioni river), 41 km southwest from the regional capital Kutaisi. Film preservation, or film restoration, describes a series of ongoing efforts among film historians, archivists, museums, cinematheques, and non-profit organizations to rescue decaying film stock and preserve the images they contain. Take
A take is a single continuous recorded performance. The term is used in film and music to denote and track the stages of production. Film In cinematography, a take refers to each filmed "version" of a particular shot or "setup". Takes of each shot are generally numbered starting with "take one" and the number of each successive take is increased (with the director calling for "take two" or "take eighteen") until the filming of the shot is completed. Esma Agolli
Esma Agolli (1 July 1928 – 5 June 2010) was an Albanian actress. She received the title of Merited Artist of Albania and acted in 60 different roles, her first one in 1948. Biography Esma Agolli made her debut as a theater actress at the National Theater Tirana (Teatri Kombëtar) in 1948. In the course of her career, she played over 60 roles on stage, in the cinemas and on television. Agolli's notable acts include as ''Olga'' in Three Sisters, ''Lena'' in Leonce and Lena and in 1960, with Mihal Popi as her partner, the title role in Mirandolina in the Albanian premiere of the play directed by Selman Vaqarit. She officially retired from acting in 1980, but continued her appearances in theatres sporadically.
