Takis (snack)
Takis are a Mexican brand of flavored rolled tortilla chips produced by Barcel, a subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo since 2019. The shape of Takis is fashioned after the taquito, it comes in numerous flavors, the best selling of which is the Tajín (company), chili-lime "Fuego" flavor, sold in distinctive purple bags, introduced in 2006. Besides the rolled corn chips, Takis produces other snacks with the same flavor lines, including different potato chip varieties, corn "stix", and peanuts. Takis were invented in Mexico in 1999 and introduced to the United States in November 2001 (originally as Taquis, before being renamed to Takis in 2004) and Canada in 2015. Barcel originally intended to aim Takis towards a Hispanic demographic, but its popularity has quickly spread among Generation Z, Gen Z. Takis Fotopoulos (; born 14 October 1940) is a Greek people, Greek political philosophy, political philosopher, economist and writer who founded the Inclusive Democracy movement, aiming at a Thesis, antithesis, synthesis, synthesis of classical democracy with libertarian socialism and the radical currents in the new social movements. He is an academic, and has written many books and over 900 articles. Takis Mousafiris (; 1936 – 11 March 2021) was a Greek composer, lyricist and songwriter. He collaborated with several notable Greek singers such as Stratos Dionysiou, Dimitris Mitropanos, Rita Sakellariou and Tolis Voskopoulos, among others. He sometimes used two pseudonyms for his works, Antonis Zannas () and Nikos Michael (). Mousafiris was born in 1936 in Ioannina, Greece, although he later moved to Athens, feeling great affinity for both cities. His father was from Kalarrytes, while his mother was from Syrrako. Mousafiris was an ethnic Aromanian, with his parents originating from ethnic Aromanian villages. Mousafiris stated on an interview that traditional Aromanian music influenced him and that both of his parents played musical instruments. Panayiotis Vassilakis (; 29 October 1925 – 9 August 2019), also known as Takis (), was a self-taught Greek artist known for his Kinetic art, kinetic sculptures. He exhibited his artworks in Europe and the United States. Popular in France, his works can be found in public locations in and around Paris, as well as at the Athens-based Takis Foundation Research Center for the Arts and Sciences. Early life Takis was born in 1925 in Athens. Because of the previous Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), Greco-Turkish War, his family struggled financially. His childhood and teen years were also shadowed by war. World War II brought along the Axis Occupation of Greece which was in effect from 1941 until October 1944, and this was then followed by the Greek Civil War from 1946 to 1949.
