TV4 AB
TV4 AB (formerly Nordisk Television AB; previously Trade name, traded as ) is a Swedish media company owned by Telia Company through TV4 Media (formerly known as Bonnier Broadcasting). The company owns the largest commercial television channel in Sweden, TV4 (Sweden), TV4. From 2007 until 2019, TV4 AB was owned by Bonnier Group, Bonnier, with Bonnier Broadcasting AB being its parent since 2016. The stock used to be traded at the Stockholm Stock Exchange (OM), but was removed from the OM when Bonnier took full control of the company. On 20 July 2018, Telia Company announced the acquisition proposal of the Bonnier Broadcasting, which includes this company, for 9.2 billion SEK (roughly US$1 billion). The acquisition was completed on 2 December 2019. On 25 February 2025, Schibsted Media announced the acquisition proposal of the TV4 Media, which includes this company, for 6.55 billion SEK. TV3 (''TV tre'') is a Swedish pay television channel owned by Viaplay Group. It was launched on 31 December 1987 by businessman Jan Stenbeck. The channel was initially broadcast across all of Scandinavia. In 1990, separate Danish and Norwegian feeds were launched. The channel's name refers to its launch at a time when television in Sweden was dominated by the two channels of SVT. TV4 Sport was a Swedish sports television channel owned by television company TV4 AB, with the tabloid newspaper ''Expressen'' owning a minor share. In April 2014, a sports channel similar to TV4 Sport is launched as TV12 by the same company, replacing :sv:TV4 Sport Xtra. The channel launched on November 3, simultaneously with its sister channel TV4 Komedi, on satellite from Canal Digital and cable from Com Hem. TV4 Komedi was a sister subchannel of Swedish TV4, owned by TV4 Group. The channel focuses on comedy only with sitcoms, comedy shows and talk shows. The channel airs classic sitcoms like '' ALF'', ''Family Matters'', ''Cheers'', ''Hope & Faith'', ''Roseanne'', ''Will & Grace'', ''The Golden Girls'' together with newer shows such as the ''Late Show with David Letterman'', ''30 Rock'' and '' Parks and Recreation''. Canal Digital was a Nordic pay TV and internet service provider in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland that was founded in March 1997 as a joint venture between the French pay TV company Canal+ and the Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor. The number of customers in 2017 was 838,000. From 2003 to 2020, Canal Digital was fully owned by Telenor. In 2004, Telenor Avidi was merged into Canal Digital and changed its name to Canal Digital cable television. In 2020, Canal Digital formed a joint venture with Viasat to form the company Allente. Viasat is a direct broadcast satellite, satellite and pay television brand, founded in Sweden in 1991. Viasat has previously been owned by Modern Times Group, Modern Times Group (MTG). The channels of both companies were broadcast from London. In 2018, Modern Times Group, MTG sourced out the television/streaming division, forming three companies: Viaplay Group (serving Nordic countries), Viasat World (international and Ukraine) and Viasat Russia (Russia and CIS). TV4 Fakta is a Swedish documentary television channel owned by the TV4 Group. It started broadcasting in 2005. Much of the programming is taken from A+E Networks. Since December 2005, the remainder of the schedule has been filled with the English language version of Euronews. The TV4 Group bought a stake in Euronews in June 2006. TV4 Fakta was the first channel owned by the TV4 Group that was not broadcast from Sweden. It is broadcast from Finland, where the advertising laws are more liberal. In November 2006, a Finnish version of the channel, called MTV3 Fakta, was launched in cooperation with MTV3. The channels have been broadcasting from Sweden since 2009. TV4 Film is a Swedish film channel owned by TV4 Group. TV4 applied for a licence to broadcast a film channel terrestrially in the autumn of 2003 and was granted a licence in December. The channel was launched as TV4 Film in April 2004. The first film shown was ''Top Gun''. Just one year after the launch, the channel's penetration had reached 26 percent, making TV4 Film the most popular film channel in Sweden. By August–October 2006, it increased to 39 percent. Films are delivered from several distributors, including MGM, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Nordisk Film, SF and Sonet Film. Sjuan (; formerly TV4 Plus until September 2011) is a Swedish television channel owned by TV4 AB, focusing on entertainment, sports and lifestyle programmes. The channel was launched in 2003 on digital terrestrial, digital satellite and cable networks. The channel could be received by many households from its launch and became the seventh most-watched television channel in 2005. Sjuan has been showing ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' since its launch. In 2004, Sjuan took over ''Dr. Phil'' from its parent channel.
