T24 (newspaper)
T24 is a Turkish online newspaper. History T24 was launched on 1 September 2009. Initial staff of T24 were consisting of former ''Tempo24'' employees. On 29 December 2012, T24 started their YouTube channel and uploaded their first video on 12 April 2013. In 2013, author and columnist Hasan Cemal joined T24. In September 2013, T24 announced "T24 Okur Fonu" their crowdfunding venture that planned to collect funds from its readers. In September 2013, led by Hasan Cemal, Doğan Akın, Yavuz Baydar, Yasemin Çongar, Andrew Finkel, Hazal Özvarış and Murat Sabuncu, T24 staff established Punto24, a self-proclaimed "independent press platform". On 14 January 2015, T24 published an entire instalment of Charlie Hebdo, which included cartoons depicting Muhammad the Prophet, following 2015 Charlie Hebdo shooting. An online newspaper (or electronic news or electronic news publication) is the online version of a newspaper, either as a stand-alone publication or as the online version of a printed periodical. Going online created more opportunities for newspapers, such as competing with broadcast journalism in presenting breaking news in a more timely manner. The credibility and strong brand recognition of well established newspapers, and the close relationships they have with advertisers, are also seen by many in the newspaper industry as strengthening their chances of survival. The movement away from the printing process can also help decrease costs. NTV (Turkey)
NTV is a Turkish nationwide television news channel owned by Doğuş Media Group. It was partnered with MSNBC between May 2000 and 2014. Besides domestic and international news, the channel's programming includes documentaries, as well as programs on finance, arts and culture, lifestyle, and sports. History NTV was founded in 1996 as a subsidiary of Cavit Çağlar's Nergis Group (hence the original full name of Nergis TV) and as the first news channel of Turkey. In January 1999, the channel became part of Doğuş Group. The success of NTV changed the Turkish media industry and started the era of thematic TV channels. Mehmet Altan Öymen (born 20 June 1932) is a Turkish journalist, author and former politician. Biography Öymen graduated from the School of Political Science of Ankara University. He began his journalist career already in 1950 at age of 18, and worked as reporter, columnist and editor-in-chief long time for the major newspapers like ''Ulus'', ''Akşam'', ''Cumhuriyet'' and ''Milliyet''. He founded the press agency Anka news agency in 1972. In the 1960s, Altan Öymen served as the press attaché in Bonn, Federal Republic of Germany. ''BirGün'' (''One Day'') is an Istanbul-based Turkish left-wing daily. The paper was founded in 2004 by a group of Turkish intellectuals. The most important point of the newspaper is that it is not owned by any parent company or conglomerate. Since its foundation, the newspaper had to face serious pressures from publishing trusts, mainly to affiliated with Doğan Media Group that owns the vast majority of the market. Whereas most of the newspapers in Turkey pay paper and publishing cost as installments, ''BirGün'' had to pay in cash. In order to afford the costs, the newspaper first launched a subscription campaign, then raised its price to 0.75 TL.
