''Evrensel'' () is a Turkish daily newspaper. History and profile ''Evrensel'' was founded on 7 June 1995. The issues captured and written are from a socialist perspective. The paper is different from other Turkish newspapers in that it presents an in-depth research into issues surrounding the workers unions. In 2017, newspaper started an English version of news. Ban on public advertisements In 2019, Turkey's Press Advertisement Agency (BİK) imposed a suspension on Evrensel newspaper, blocking its access to government advertisements. In August 2022, Turkish authorities permanently revoked the ''Evrensel'' daily's license to publish public advertisements, a vital revenue source for many newspapers. Labour Party (Turkey)
The Labour Party (in Turkish: ''Emek Partisi'', EMEP) is a communist party in Turkey. Its chairperson is Seyit Aslan. The party was founded as ''Emek Partisi'' (Labour Party, EP) in 1996. Due to its ban by the Constitutional Court, it was refounded with the name ''EmeÄŸin Partisi'' (Party of Labour, EMEP), the same year. In 2005, the name "Emek Partisi" was reinstalled after the European Court of Human Rights held the ban was a violation of Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Its ideological stance is in accord with the line of ICMLPO. In its programme, EMEP identifies its goal as creating an "Independent and Democratic Turkey". Metin Göktepe
Metin Göktepe (; April 10, 1968 – January 8, 1996) was a Kurdish photojournalist who was tortured and murdered in police custody in Istanbul on January 8, 1996. Life Metin Göktepe was born to a Kurdish family in Sivas on April 10, 1968, in the village of Çipil of Gürün district. He was the seventh and penultimate child of his parents. He attended primary school in Sivas until fourth grade and moved with his family to Istanbul in 1979 where he completed the fifth grade and his secondary studies in 1986. In 1989, he started attending The Department of Public Finance in the Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University, and he was introduced to politics through his older sister and brother and student associations. The Press Advertisement Institution (; BIK), also known as the Press Advertisement Agency, is a public legal entity of the government of Turkey responsible for distribution of government ads to the Turkish newspapers, including private and state-owned. Established in 1961 under the Law No. 195, it is affiliated with the Directorate of Communications and works under the 36 members elected from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Members are divided into three groups such as "Press", "Government" and "Impartial".
