Sócrates Award
The Sócrates Award is an association football award presented to the best humanitarian work by a footballer worldwide during a joint ceremony with the Ballon d'Or. The award is presented by ''France Football'' in collaboration with ''Peace and Sport'' and is named after late Brazilian footballer Sócrates, who co-founded the Corinthians Democracy movement, in opposition to the ruling military dictatorship in Brazil during the 1980s. Sadio Mané was the first winner of the award in 2022 Ballon d'Or, 2022, while Jenni Hermoso, Jennifer Hermoso is the current winner, having received the prize in 2024 Ballon d'Or, 2024. Jenni Hermoso
Jennifer Hermoso Fuentes (born 9 May 1990) is a Spanish professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Forward (association football), forward for Liga MX Femenil club Tigres UANL (women), Tigres UANL and the Spain women's national football team, Spain national team. 2021 Ballon D'Or
The 2021 Ballon d'Or (French: ''Ballon d'Or'') was the 65th annual ceremony of the Ballon d'Or, presented by ''France Football'', recognising the best footballers in the world in 2021. The nominees for the ceremony were announced on 8 October 2021. Right before the ceremony, France Football announced that along with the Men's and Women's Ballon d'Or, Kopa Trophy and Yashin Trophy, two new awards would be given: the Best Club and Best Striker of the Year. Rubiales Case
The Rubiales case () refers to the fallout, both social and sporting, caused by the conduct of Luis Rubiales, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), beginning in August 2023. After allegations of inappropriate behavior during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup final on 20 August 2023, Rubiales' response was perceived by critics to have exacerbated the situation in the days following the tournament, and to have exacerbated the controversy.
