Sävsjö
Sävsjö is a locality and the seat of Sävsjö Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden with 5,122 inhabitants in 2010. Geography Sävsjö is located on the main line railway between Stockholm and Malmö. The distance to Malmö is about 220 kilometers. History Sävsjö regards the date 1 October 1864, as the start of its current history, because it was then that the train station Sävsjö was inaugurated. At that time Sävsjö was nothing more than a few houses, but attracted by the railway it began expanding, attracting both industries and inhabitants. The settlement with its then 1.56 square kilometres had 1,481 people in 1917 at which time several small industries had established themselves there, most notably carpenters and other wood industries, and there was also a bank, a pharmacy and a post office. Sävsjö Municipality
Sävsjö Municipality () is a municipality in Jönköping County, southern Sweden where the town Sävsjö is seat. The municipality was created by the local government reform of 1971, when the ''City of Sävsjö'' (instituted as late as 1947) was amalgamated with parts of two adjacent rural municipalities. Two years later it was completed when ''Hjälmseryd'' was added. Geography The municipality is located on the South Swedish highlands and comprise the old Västra Härad. It is considered a scenic place because the forests are not as dense as in the rest of Småland and the terrain is more varied. Jönköping County () is a county or '' län'' in southern Sweden. It borders the counties of Halland, Västra Götaland, Östergötland, Kalmar and Kronoberg. Jonas Bronck
Jonas Bronck (alternatively Jonas Jonsson Brunk, Jonas Jonasson Bronk, or Jonas Jonassen Bronck) (around 1600 – 1643) was a settler in the Dutch colony of New Netherland after whom the Bronx River, and by extension, the county and New York City borough of the Bronx are named. Origin Different theories account for Bronck's origin. The official historian of the Bronx, Lloyd Ultan, has adopted the theory that Bronck came from Sweden. Bror Oscar Eilert Ekwall (8 January 1877 in Vallsjö – 23 November 1964 in Lund) was a Swedish academic, Professor of English at Sweden's Lund University from 1909 to 1942 and one of the outstanding scholars of the English language in the first half of the 20th century.
