Sweden In The Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with "", written by Fredrik Kempe and Malena Ernman, and performed by Ernman herself. The Swedish participating broadcaster, (SVT), selected its entry through Melodifestivalen 2009. Ernman represented Sweden at the first semi-final of the Contest on 12 May 2009, where she qualified to the final of the Contest after receiving 105 points, placing 4th in a field of 18 competing entries. At the final she performed 4th on stage. At the close of the voting she had received 33 points, placing 21st of the 25 competing countries. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 2009 (SVT) held Melodifestivalen 2009 between February and March 2009. It was the selection for the 49th song to represent in the Eurovision Song Contest, and was the 48th Melodifestivalen. Skellefteå Kraft Arena
Skellefteå Kraft Arena is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena located in Skellefteå, Sweden. The capacity of the arena is 5,801 and it was built in 1966. and inaugurated on 6 January 1967. It is the home arena of the Swedish Hockey League, SHL's Skellefteå AIK as well as Hockeyettan's SK Lejon. The arena is named after Skellefteå Kraft, a Swedish power company. Renovation Skellefteå Kraft Arena turned into a construction site in late summer 2005, since the decision had been made to renovate the arena. By the start of the 2007/2008 season the renovation was almost finished, and the seating capacity had been increased from 5,200 to 6,001. The renovation cost an estimated 140 MSEK, and transformed the arena from a typical Swedish indoor ice hockey venue to a modern ice hockey and event arena. Marie Eleonor Serneholt (; born 11 July 1983) is a Swedes, Swedish singer and model. She is a member of the Swedish pop band A-Teens, A*Teens which reunited in 2024, and briefly pursued a solo recording career after the band disbanded in 2004. Jonathan Fagerlund (born 8 January 1991), sometimes just Jonathan, is a Swedish singer. He has released two albums ''Flying'' and '' Welcome to My World'' and five singles. Nina Söderquist (born 6 May 1972) is a Swedish musical singer and actress. Career Nina started her career on Wallmans salonger and as a chorus singer girl behind many of Sweden's most popular singers. On 2 February 2008 Söderquist won the Swedish talent show West End Star on TV3. She won the prize of getting the leading role as "Lady of the Lake" in the London West End production of the musical ''Spamalot''. Scotts is a modern dansband from Lidköping, Sweden. Established in 1992, Scotts competed at Dansbandskampen 2008, finishing up second behind Larz-Kristerz, starting to aim at their ambition becoming a full-time band. The band also competed at Melodifestivalen 2009 2009 was the 49th edition of the Swedish music competition , which was organised by (SVT) and took place over a six-week period between 7 February and 14 March 2009. "Jag tror på oss" is a song written by Lars "Dille" Diedricson, Martin Hedström and Ingela "Pling" Forsman, and performed by the Swedish band Scotts at Melodifestivalen 2009. Through the semifinal in Gothenburg on 7 February 2009, the song went to Andra chansen where it failed to reach the finals. The song peaked at 3rd place on the Swedish singles chart. The song was also tested for Svensktoppen on 12 April 2009 but failed to go through. Later in 2009, the song was also added as a bonus track on the Scotts album '' Längtan''. After Dark was originally asked to participate with the song, but declined following scheduling problems.
