Svitlana Demchenko
Svitlana Demchenko (born October 4, 2003) is a Ukrainian-born Canadian chess player. Svitlana Demchenko achieved the title of Woman FIDE Master (WFM) in 2016 and the title of Woman International Master (WIM) in 2019. Svitlana Demchenko is the 2023 Canadian Women's Closed Champion. She was a five-time Canadian Girls Champion and a two-time North American Girls Champion in different age categories. Demchenko has been a member of the Canadian Women's Olympiad Team since 2018, and has represented Canada at the Women's World Cup. She played on the Canadian Women's Chess Olympiad team: * In 2018 Batumi Chess Olympiad on the fourth board, scoring 5½/9 (+2, =7, -0). * In 2022 Chennai Chess Olympiad on the second board, scoring 7½/11 (+6, =3, -2). Woman International Master
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms (performance benchmarks in competitions including other titled players). Once awarded, titles are held for life except in cases of fraud or cheating. Open titles may be earned by all players, while women's titles are restricted to female players. Women's Chess World Cup 2021
The Women's Chess World Cup 2021 was a 103-player single-elimination chess tournament that took place in Sochi, Russia, from 12 July to 3 August 2021. It was the inaugural edition of a women's-only version of the FIDE World Cup. The tournament was held in parallel with the Chess World Cup 2021, an open tournament. The tournament formed part of the qualification for the Women's World Chess Championship 2022. The top three finishers, other than Women's World Chess Champion Ju Wenjun and players who have otherwise qualified, qualified for the Women's Candidates Tournament 2022. Format The format is a 7-round knockout event. 78 women play one another in the first round. Fast chess, also known as Speed chess, is a type of chess in which each player is given less time to consider their moves than normal tournament time controls allow. Fast chess is subdivided, by decreasing time controls, into rapid chess, blitz chess, and bullet chess. Karina Cyfka
Karina Cyfka (also known as Karina Szczepkowska-Horowska; Szczepkowska; born 28 October 1987) is a Polish chess player. FIDE awarded her the titles Woman Grandmaster in January 2010 and International Master in September 2016. In 2003, she tied for first place with Polina Malysheva of Russia at the World Youth Chess Championships in the Girls U16 category and took the silver medal on tiebreak. 44th Chess Olympiad
The 44th Chess Olympiad (also known as the Indian Chess Olympiad), was organised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) in Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu, India from 28 July to 9 August 2022. It consisted of open and women's tournaments, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess. The event was initially supposed to take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, along with the Chess World Cup 2019, but was later moved to Moscow and scheduled for the period from 5 to 17 August 2020.
