Sutton United Football Club is a football club based in Sutton Coldfield, England. They are currently members of the and play at Coleshill Road, Sutton Coldfield. History Sutton United was formed in 1947 by three men, Frank White, Ken Smith and Bill Walker, who had met whilst on service for the Royal Air Force. The club initially competed in the Birmingham and District League, winning the Premier Division on seven occasions. In 2012, Sutton United joined the Midland Combination Division Two, winning promotion to Division One in their first season in the league. In 2014, after the Midland Combination and the Midland Alliance merged, Sutton were placed into the Midland League. In 2017, the club dropped out of the Midland League, rejoining the Birmingham and District League, before making the step back up to the Midland League Division Three in 2019. Sutton Coldfield or the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield ( ), is a town and civil parish in the city of Birmingham, West Midlands County, West Midlands, England. The town lies around 8 miles northeast of Birmingham city centre, 9 miles south of Lichfield, 7 miles southwest of Tamworth, Staffordshire, Tamworth, and 7 miles east of Walsall. The Birmingham and District Football League (formerly the Birmingham & District Amateur Football Association and often referred to as the Birmingham AFA) is an amateur association football competition covering the city of Birmingham, England, and the surrounding area, for football teams playing on a Saturday. Midland Football Combination
The Midland Football Combination was an English association football, football league covering parts of the West Midlands (region), West Midlands. It comprised five divisions, a Premier Division, Divisions One and Two and two Reserves Divisions. The league was one of three official feeder leagues to the Midland Football Alliance. Prior to 2006, the Premier Division was defined as step 7 in the National League System, even though it fed into the step 5 Midland Alliance. In 2006, it was re-graded as step 6, making teams in the top two divisions eligible to take part in the FA Vase and teams in the top division eligible to enter the FA Cup. Midland Football Alliance
The Midland Football Alliance was an English association football league for semi-professional teams. It covered Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire and also southern parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The league consisted of a single division which sat at Step 5 of the National League System, or the ninth level of the overall English football league system. The league was formed in 1994, drawing its initial membership from the strongest clubs in the Midland Football Combination and the West Midlands (Regional) League, both of which became feeder leagues to the new competition. Each season, the champion club of each feeder league was eligible for promotion to the Alliance, and Alliance clubs could in turn be relegated to the feeder leagues. Wylde Green
Wylde Green is a residential area within the town of Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, England in the West Midlands. It was historically part of Warwickshire. The area is in the Sutton Vesey ward. History In the 16th century, this area of barren common land was known as the Wyld and was sparsely populated. After the Sutton Coldfield Inclosure Act 1824 ( 5 Geo. 4. c. ''14'' ), there was some development and in 1840 the growth of the population to about 60 led to the building of the first school. In the 1850s substantial Victorian mansions began to appear along the Birmingham Road. Highbridge Road and Station Road were laid out in 1858 in anticipation of the coming of the railway. Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club is an English rugby union team based in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. The club runs four senior sides, a ladies team, a veterans team and a full range of junior teams.
