Susanna Mkrtchyan
Susanna Mkrtchyan (Armenian:''Սուսաննա Մկրտչյան'') (born August 26, 1949) is an Armenian Wikimedian and a professor of database and system research. She founded and leads the Wikimedia Armenia chapter, which organizes outreach and workshops to improve the Armenian Wikipedia, including an annual conference. In 2015, she received an Honourable mention in the context of the annual award Wikimedian of the Year attributed by Jimmy Wales. Life and work Mkrtchyan was born in Yerevan. She studied at Avetik Isahakyan School in Yerevan, and later attended the Manuk Abeghyan school with a focus on physics, graduating with honors. Armenian ( classical: , reformed: , , ) is an Indo-European language and an independent branch of that family of languages. It is the official language of Armenia. Armenian Wikipedia
The Armenian Wikipedia ( hy, Վիքիպեդիա, translit=Vikipedia Ուիքիփետիա or Վիքիպեդիա Ազատ Հանրագիտարան, ''Vikipedia Azat Hanragitaran'') is the Armenian language version of Wikipedia. It was created in February 2003 as Հայերեն Վիքիփեդիա, but started developing in 2005. The name was changed to Հայերեն Վիքիպեդիա on 5 April 2012. With all of its current content, it is listed in List of Wikipedias in the 100,000+ category. Armenian Wikipedia launched later the option of reading all contents, if preferred, in traditional (Mesrobian) orthography, rather than the Reformed (Abeghian) orthography. Wikimedian Of The Year
The Wikimedian of the Year is an annual award that honors Wikipedia editors and other contributors to Wikimedia projects to highlight major achievements within the Wikimedia movement, established in August 2011 by Wikipedia's co-founder Jimmy Wales. Wales selects the recipients and honors them at Wikimania, an annual conference of the Wikimedia Foundation—except in 2020, 2021, and 2022 when the recipients were announced at online meetings as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2011 to 2017, the award was named Wikipedian of the Year. In 2011, the first title was given to Rauan Kenzhekhanuly for his work on the Kazakh Wikipedia. Jimmy Donal Wales (born August 7, 1966), also known on Wikipedia by the pseudonym Jimbo, is an American-British Internet entrepreneur, webmaster, and former financial trader. He is a co-founder of the online non-profit encyclopedia Wikipedia and the for-profit wiki hosting service Fandom (formerly Wikia). He has worked on other online projects, including Bomis, Nupedia, WikiTribune, and WT Social. Wales was born in Huntsville, Alabama, where he attended Randolph School, a university-preparatory school. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in finance from Auburn University and the University of Alabama respectively. Yerevan State University (YSU; hy, Երևանի Պետական Համալսարան, ԵՊՀ, ''Yerevani Petakan Hamalsaran''), also simply University of Yerevan, is the oldest continuously operating public university in Armenia. Founded in 1919, it is the largest university in the country. It is thus informally known as Armenia's "mother university" (Մայր ԲՈւՀ, ''Mayr Buh'').
