Armenian Wikipedia
The Armenian Wikipedia ( hy, Վիքիպեդիա, translit=Vikipedia Ուիքիփետիա or Վիքիպեդիա Ազատ Հանրագիտարան, ''Vikipedia Azat Hanragitaran'') is the Armenian language version of Wikipedia. It was created in February 2003 as Հայերեն Վիքիփեդիա, but started developing in 2005. The name was changed to Հայերեն Վիքիպեդիա on 5 April 2012. With all of its current content, it is listed in List of Wikipedias in the 100,000+ category. Armenian Wikipedia launched later the option of reading all contents, if preferred, in traditional (Mesrobian) orthography, rather than the Reformed (Abeghian) orthography. Armenian Wikipedia also carried at times parallel articles in Western Armenian language spoken widely in the Armenian diaspora. In phonetics, aspiration is the strong burst of breath that accompanies either the release or, in the case of preaspiration, the closure of some obstruents. In English, aspirated consonants are allophones in complementary distribution with their unaspirated counterparts, but in some other languages, notably most South Asian languages (including Indian) and East Asian languages, the difference is contrastive. In dialects with aspiration, to feel or see the difference between aspirated and unaspirated sounds, one can put a hand or a lit candle in front of one's mouth, and say ''spin'' and then ''pin'' . Recent history Armenia experienced recession in 2009 during the global financial crisis, before returning to modest economic growth. Over the period 2008-2013, Armenia's economy grew by 1.7% per year, on average. Building an efficient research system was a state strategic objective for the Armenian authorities in 2014. Seyran Musheghi Ohanyan ( hy, Սեյրան Մուշեղի Օհանյան; born 1 July 1962) is an Armenian general and politician currently serving as a deputy in the National Assembly of Armenia. He served as Defence Minister of Armenia from 14 April 2008 until 3 October 2016. A native of Nagorno-Karabakh, he participated in both the first and second Karabakh wars, and from 2000 to 2007 served as defence minister of the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh. Biography Early life Ohanyan was born in the town of Shusha, then in the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast of the Azerbaijan SSR in the Soviet Union. Armen Gevorgi Ashotyan ( hy, Արմեն Գևորգի Աշոտյան; born July 25, 1975) is an Armenian politician who served as Minister of Education and Science of Armenia from 2009 to 2016. He is currently deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia. Early life and education Armen Ashotyan was born in Yerevan in 1975. He graduated from the Faculty of General Practice of the Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) with a specialization in general medicine in 1998. In 2000, he received his clinical residency training from the same university with a specialization in forensic medicine. Ashotyan graduated from the Moscow School of Political Science in 2005. Career Ashotyan joined the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) in 2002 and from 2003 to 2005 served as the chairman of its youth wing.
