Supir Istimewa
''Supir Istimewa'' ("Special Chauffeur") is a 1954 Indonesian film directed by Rempo Urip and produced by Djamaluddin Malik for the Persari Film Corporation. Starring MS Priyadi, Ermina Zaenah, , and Djauhari Effendi, the film follows a wealthy young man who passes as a chauffeur to convince a village woman to fall in love with him. Plot Kadir (MS Priyadi), a rich young man from the city, falls in love with Rukyah (Ermina Zaenah), a beautiful maiden from the countryside. During their first meeting, however, Rukyah treats Kadir roughly; since her mother (Roos Itjang) married a rich man who later manipulated and abused her, she considered all rich people to be untrustworthy. Rempo Urip
Rempo Urip (10 July 1914 – 15 January 2001) was an Indonesian film director. He began his career in the theatre, serving as an extra and footballer for the Dardanella theatre company beginning in 1934. After six years and three troupes, Urip entered the film industry, working as a distributor for Oriental Film and assistant director for Java Industrial Film. He returned to the theatre during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945) and national revolution (1945–1949). In 1951 he joined Djamaluddin Malik's Persari as a director, completing thirteen films for the company before it closed in 1958. He continued as a freelance director until 1977. Djamaluddin Malik (13 February, 1917 – 8 June, 1970) was a prominent Indonesian film producer, politician, entrepreneur. He founded the Jakarta Indonesian company Persari Film. Personal life Malik was born in Padang, West Sumatra. His father was a Pagaruyung descendant, in the Minangkabau hinterland. He died in Munich, Germany in 1970. Ermina Zaenah (11 November 1927 – 4 January 2009) was an Indonesian actress and film producer who was active in the 1950s and 1960s. She was part of Classical Indonesian cinema, Classical Indonesian Cinema. Life and career Zaenah was born on 11 November 1927 in Jambi, Dutch East Indies, to Mar'i Yusuf. She had a younger brother, Marzuki Yusuf. Zaenah was married to Nurdin Syam, a navy captain who later became a director at Persari, in 1943. As of 1979, she was resided in Bandung, West Java. Aside from acting in stage plays, Zaenah led her own musical group, the Los Suita Rama, and performed topeng dance. In 1951, Zaenah entered the film industry. Boes Boestami (Perfected Spelling: Bus Bustami; 30 December 1922 – 11 September 1970) was an Indonesian journalist and film actor. He was mostly known for his comedic roles. Biography Boestami was born in Batavia, Dutch East Indies (now Jakarta, capital of Indonesia), on 30 December 1922. As a child he went to a Europeesche Lagere School (European school), later studying at a trade school. Boestami eventually began a career as a journalist, often covering film and entertainment news under the pen name "Bintang Ketjil" ("Little Star"). ''De Locomotief'' was the first newspaper published in Semarang, in the era of Dutch East Indies. It was established in 1845 and led by Pieter Brooshooft, an ethical political activist. The daily was originally named ''Semarangsch Nieuws en Advertentieblad''. In 1863 it was renamed ''De Locomotief'', after the passage of the first train in Semarang. The paper was closed during the second world war but in 1947 the daily ''De Locomotief'' was re-opened again. The Dutch language newspaper was cited outside of Indonesia in the 1950s as a source of information about Indonesian War of Independence issues.
