Sunraysia Television
Sunraysia Television was a publicly listed company which owned Channel Nine Perth's parent company ''Swan Television and Radio Broadcasters'' from 1989 to 2007. Although listed on the ASX, Sunraysia had been majority owned by Eva Presser's Sabtel (between 44 and 50 per cent) with WIN Corporation owning another 43.65% of the company. History Sunraysia Television has its origins in the area around Mildura, known as Sunraysia. It operated a single television licence, STV-8. In 1985, the station was purchased by Eva Presser. In 1989, Sunraysia acquired Channel Nine Perth from Bond Media who were forced to sell it due to cross-media ownership laws restricting national audience reach. WIN Corporation is a private Australian media company, that owns assets including the WIN Television network, Crawford Productions and several local radio stations. The company is based in Wollongong, New South Wales. He is the owner of the Australian television network, WIN Television through his ownership of WIN Corporation, the largest shareholder of the Nine Network, and holds a significant stake in Nine Entertainment Co. Sunraysia is a region located in northwestern Victoria and southwestern New South Wales in Australia. The region is renowned for its sunshine, intensive horticulture including grapes and oranges. Its main centre is Mildura, Victoria. The area of Victoria to the west of Sunraysia is known as the Millewa, the main distinction being that Sunraysia is the irrigated area and the Millewa is the dryland cropping area. Sunraysia is mostly contained in the Murray Darling wine region. Sunraysia is sometimes incorrectly referred to as an economic region. Etymology The name ''Sunraysia'' derives from a contest that entrepreneur Jack De Garis held in 1919, as part of a promotion on behalf of the Australian Dried Fruits Association. Rosella is a brand of tomato soup, tomato sauces, pickled vegetables, and condiments, founded in Australia in 1895 as the Rosella Preserving & Manufacturing Co.
