Sun Bank Halt
Sun Bank Halt in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, was a minor station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line. It opened as Garth & Sun Bank Halt in 1905 but was renamed on 1 July 1906. The line was double track and there was never a signal box nor freight facilities here. On 7 September 1945, the bank of the Shropshire Union Canal failed, causing the trackbed to be washed away near the halt. A mail and freight train, hauled by GWR 4300 Class 2-6-0 No. 6315, was derailed, killing one person and injuring two people. Ruabon (; ) is a village and Community (Wales), community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The Great Western Railway (GWR) 4300 Class is a class of 2-6-0 (mogul) steam locomotives, designed by G.J. Churchward for Locomotive#Use, mixed traffic duties. 342 were built from 1911–1932. Background In 1906 Churchward fitted a more powerful Standard No. 4 boiler to his successful GWR 5100 Class, 3100 Class 2-6-2T to create the GWR 3150 Class. These showed themselves to be successful locomotives but their weight and water capacity meant that they tended to be restricted to suburban passenger traffic.
