Sukumar (director)
Bandreddi Sukumar is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who works in Telugu cinema. He is known for his intricate screenplays and for depicting protagonists with grey shades. He is the third highest-grossing Indian film director of all time and is one of the highest-paid directors in Indian cinema. Before entering the film industry, Sukumar worked as a mathematics and physics lecturer at a junior college in Kakinada for nearly seven years. He began his film career as a writer, working with Editor Mohan, and later assisted V. V. Vinayak on ''Dil'' (2003). He made his directorial debut with ''Arya'' (2004), which was a major success and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu and the Nandi Award for Best Screenplay Writer. ''1: Nenokkadine'' () is a 2014 Indian Telugu-language psychological action thriller film directed by Sukumar. Produced by 14 Reels Entertainment and distributed by Eros International, the film stars Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon (in her film debut) in lead roles. Nassar, Pradeep Rawat, and Kelly Dorji appear in supporting roles. The story follows Gautham, a rock musician suffering from schizophrenia and missing 25 percent of his brain's grey matter, as he embarks on a quest to find his parents with the help of his girlfriend, Sameera, a journalist. Sukumar began working on the film's script after completing ''100% Love'' (2011), using a bus driver's tale about a boy claiming his parents were murdered on his bus as the foundation. ''Rangasthalam'' () is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by Sukumar. Produced by Y. Naveen, Y. Ravi Shankar and C. V. Mohan for the company Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu with, Jagapathi Babu, Naresh, Prakash Raj, Sunil Barve, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Anasuya Bharadwaj in key supporting roles.
