Suikoden
is a series of role-playing video games developed and published by Konami. Created by Yoshitaka Murayama, the games are loosely based on the classical Chinese novel '' Water Margin'', whose title is rendered as in Japanese. Each individual game centers on themes of politics, corruption, revolution, mystical crystals known as ''True Runes'', and the " 108 Stars of Destiny"—the 108 protagonists who are loosely interpreted from the source material. Although the events of the games are not chronological, the entire series (except for ''Tierkreis'' and ''Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki'') takes place within the same world, among continuing and overlapping histories. In some cases, several characters appear in multiple installments. A spiritual successor to the series titled '' Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes'' was released on 23 April 2024. Suikoden II
is a role-playing video game developed and published by Konami for the PlayStation video game console and the second installment of the '' Suikoden'' video game series. It was released on December 17, 1998, in Japan; on September 29, 1999, in North America; and on July 28, 2000, in Europe. The game features a vast array of characters, with over 100 recruitable characters, of which over 40 are usable in combat. ''Suikoden II'' takes place 3 years after the events of the original '' Suikoden'' and centers on an invasion of the City-States of Jowston by the Kingdom of Highland. Suikoden III
is a role-playing video game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami for the PlayStation 2 video game console, and the third installment in the ''Suikoden'' video game series. It was released in 2002 in Japan and North America, with a #Related products, manga adaption published in 2004. Suikoden V
is a role-playing video game developed by Konami and Hudson Soft and published by Konami for the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console and the fifth and final main installment of the ''Suikoden'' video game series. It was released in 2006, and has sold around 200,000 copies in Japan. Loosely based on a classical Chinese novel, '' Shui Hu Zhuan'' by Shi Nai'an, ''Suikoden V'' centers on the political struggles of the Queendom of Falena, and takes place 6 in-universe years before the events of the first ''Suikoden''. Suikoden (video Game)
is a role-playing video game published by Konami. It is the first installment of the ''Suikoden'' series. Suikoden IV
is a role-playing video game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami exclusively for the PlayStation 2 video game console and is the fourth installment of the ''Suikoden'' video game series. It was released in August 2004 in Japan, and early 2005 in North America and Europe. ''Suikoden IV'' takes place approximately 150 years before the events of the first ''Suikoden'' game, and relates the story of a young boy living on the island of Razril and the Rune of Punishment, one of the 27 True Runes. Suikoden I & II
is a 2006 video game compilation developed and published by Konami for the PlayStation Portable. It contains enhanced ports of the first two games in the ''Suikoden'' series, ''Suikoden'' (1995) and ''Suikoden II'' (1998) for the PlayStation Portable. Yoshitaka Murayama
was a Japanese game designer, game director and game producer. He was best known for his career at Konami, where he created of the '' Suikoden'' series of role-playing video games, for which he produced and directed major installments until his departure in 2002 before the release of '' Suikoden III''. He died on 6 February 2024 at the age of 55, due to complications from an ongoing illness. Hundred Heroes
is a 2024 role-playing video game developed by Rabbit and Bear Studios and published by 505 Games. It has been called a spiritual successor of lead developer Yoshitaka Murayama's previous series, ''Suikoden'', which he made for Konami. ''Water Margin'' (), also called ''Outlaws of the Marsh'' or ''All Men Are Brothers'', is a Chinese novel from the Ming dynasty that is one of the preeminent Classic Chinese Novels. Attributed to Shi Nai'an, ''Water Margin'' was one of the earliest Chinese novels written in vernacular Mandarin Chinese. The story, which is set in the Northern Song dynasty (around 1120), tells of how a group of 108 outlaws gathers at Mount Liang (or ''Liangshan'' Marsh) to rebel against the government. , also known as System Sacom Sales Corp., is a Japanese company which sells electronic devices. They are more notable for their past, in which they developed video games.
