Suffocate (Feeder Song)
"Suffocate" is a track by the UK rock band Feeder, re-recorded from their 1997 album ''Polythene''. It was released as an in-between single to bridge the gap between ''Polythene'' and its follow-up, ''Yesterday Went Too Soon''. Feeder later repeated this in-between single process building up to a following album, with " Just a Day" in 2001 and " Shatter" / "Tender" in 2005. The single reached the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 37. The version of "Suffocate" released as a single is a full-band version of the acoustic track from the ''Polythene'' album, with slightly amended lyrics. The song began in 1994 as part of the band's demo under the name "Give". At that time, the band was called Real. At the time of its single release, Grant Nicholas said that he wanted to revisit the song. Feeder (band)
Feeder are a Welsh rock music, rock band formed in 1994. Scoring 20 UK top 40 singles and 13 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning three decades. Feeder are one of the longest-surviving bands to have originated in the UK Britpop scene. At the peak of their commercial success, they won two Kerrang! Awards in 2001 and 2003 and were inducted into their Hall of Fame in August 2019. Although the band formed in 1994,Jon Lee tribute night at T. "Shatter" is a song by the British rock band Feeder. "Shatter" was first released as B-side to " Tumble and Fall" and as a bonus to the Japanese edition of ''Pushing the Senses''; it has since been included on the band's compilation album ''The Singles''. Released on 10 October 2005, the single was backed by "Tender" from the fifth studio album ''Pushing the Senses'', the combination reaching number 11 in the UK Singles Chart, and number one in the Independent Singles Chart; their third number one of the year on that chart. On the physical singles chart, which excludes downloads (at the time downloads didn’t make much of an impact in comparison to later years), the single made No.8, making it their fourth top 10 single on that chart and second top 10 of the year. Reading Festival
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading, Berkshire, Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. ''The Singles'' is Feeder's second UK compilation album, following the limited release b-sides album '' Picture of Perfect Youth''. The album has 18 of their UK top 40 hit single tracks (if "Shatter" and "Tender" are separately counted), with the exception of "Day In Day Out" and "Find The Colour", and includes the limited edition Arena Tour single "Comfort In Sound" and three new tracks, "Lost And Found", "Burn The Bridges" and "Save Us". "Lost and Found" and "Save Us" were released as singles to promote the compilation shortly before and after its release, charting at #12 and #34 in the UK respectively, while "Shatter" was released to promote the compilation, shortly after the band announced its release plans in October 2005. "Burn The Bridges" is the only song on the compilation which was not released as a single. "Just a Day" is a song by Welsh rock band Feeder, released as the band's final single of 2001, notable for being their last with drummer Jon Lee. It was first released on the " Seven Days in the Sun" single as a B-side. Despite having already appeared in the top 20 earlier in the year as a B-side, the single A-side release stayed in the UK top 20 for four weeks, peaking at number 12. It also peaked at number 47 in Ireland. It instantly became a regular to end the band's live sets, but has been occasionally rested from this position for a cover of "Breed" by Nirvana, while never used as one of the "Feeder covers" at Renegades gigs. As of November 2023, "Just a Day" has total consumption figures of 400,000, allowing it to be certified Gold. Pure sales for the track in the United Kingdom were tracked at 103,641 on June 15 2008, meaning that if the track had failed to sell another unit since, UK streaming figures were 29,635,900 on the day the track was certified Gold. Polythene (album)
''Polythene'' is the debut studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder. It was released 19 May 1997 on the Echo Label, and then re-issued on 28 October in the same year in an Enhanced CD version, featuring their UK top 40 breakthrough single "High" and its video. The original version of the album was deleted soon after and is relatively rare due to this reason. Despite sizeable critical success, the album had minor commercial success, charting at number 65 in the UK albums chart. However, ''Polythene'' would later achieve Gold record status despite never having appeared in the top 50 of the album charts, a rare feat reflecting steady and consistent sales over a period of 20 years, rather than strong initial sales. The album saw the group's early take on a more grunge-influenced sound, which was not seen on their other albums that followed. ''Yesterday Went Too Soon'' is the second studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder. It was released on 30 August 1999 on The Echo Label. ''Yesterday Went Too Soon'' entered the UK charts at #8, after a decent amount of critical success. The title track gave them their first top 20 single, and the album would in total give the band 4 top 50 hits. Its critical and cult appeal including slots on Top of the Pops for the first time, enabled the album to aid the band's breakthrough which was completed on the follow-up '' Echo Park''. The album gained a Silver certification in April 2001, shortly before the release of breakthrough album ''Echo Park'', and then went Gold in March 2003 after the extended commercial recognition of '' Comfort In Sound'', thus making the album an overdue commercial success sales-wise.
